WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - West Haven residents gathered outside of City Hall Monday night and called for the city’s mayor to resign.
The protest came after an audit found that the city improperly spent federal COVID relief money.
The City Council held a meeting on Monday night and many sought to speak out to ask Mayor Nancy Rossi to resign.
At the last meeting two weeks ago, dozens of neighbors did just that. That public comment was followed by a unanimous City Council “no confidence” vote in the mayor.
Rossi was not at the last meeting, but she was there Monday night.
She remained under fire because of the city’s recent financial issues.
Earlier this month, a state oversight board voted to take over West Haven’s budget after the audit and arrest of former city employee Michael DiMassa.
Federal investigators said DiMassa stole about $1 million in the federal COVID relief money.

“I do want to say we’ve all been harmed by the situation,” Rossi said. “I hate when everyone at City Hall was a thief. Nothing is further from the truth.”

If former city employee Michael DiMassa got $1million, we can only wonder how much Rossi and the others got.
Afterall money is the major reason I can see that people go into politics.
One paragraph says improperly used and another says stolen.
Only libs would think that those are the same thing.
She STOLE the money??? Why isn’t she INDICTED??
West Haven is a corrupt little cesspool. Over the past 5 years they had a developer take over a neighborhood near the water with the hope of a huge mixed use development called “The Haven”. Since then places have been boarded up, others bulldozed, and many more leveled by arson. There are many facets to West Haven. All bad.
