Following Tuesday's mass shooting at a Texas elementary school, Arizona GOP congressman Paul Gosar spread a false and transphobic claim that the suspected shooter was a "transsexual leftist illegal alien."
Gosar tweeted the claim even though authorities had already identified the suspect as an 18-year-old male resident of Uvalde, where the shooting occurred.
As of Tuesday evening, the GOP representative has not commented on his tweet, which was deleted about two hours after being published.
This false claim has been proliferating on social media with photos of a transgender person unrelated to the attack. The images appear to have been taken off the Reddit account of a transgender artist.
Among the social media accounts that shared such images is a Facebook page called "North Florida Patriots."
The page has since corrected its post, with its operators stating that they "won't be lectured" by people looking to make the shooting a political issue and turn it into a "gun grab."
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has identified the suspected shooter as an 18-year-old male who lived in the Uvalde community. Authorities say he shot his grandmother before heading to the school with two military-style rifles he bought on his 18th birthday.

That is one of the photos that do not appear to be him, but rather someone 4chan posted pics of. Pleated skirt guy is apparently still alive, and posted after the attack.

The Columbine killer boys liked that “goth” makeup and fingernail polish, too. And the drugs...
They didn’t wear any goth make up, but they dressed in trench coats, and in black and talked about, “natural selection”.
They both were sent to a juvenile facility for stealing a computer or laptop because, the driver was stupid enough to have it in plain sight with the doors unlocked.
That was their logic, btw.

To say “baseless” at this point is ridiculous. There are suggestions of such a relationship, though not proven so far. That the shooter was mentally ill is also still a theory.

There were FReepers that continued to post both pics even after others said it was not the same person. Why? Low intellect is one possibility; intentionally trying to sow confusion is another.

Sounds like a kid who had no stable family life (no father?, mother who is. substance abuser).
Wonder if the school was aware of the bullying and if so, what they did about it?
Unfortunately there’s lots of these types of kids around who have no guardrails for behavior.
