GOP Rep. Mayra Flores sworn in after flipping House seat in special election (Texas)

Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) was sworn in as the newest House member on Tuesday after making headlines last week for flipping Texas’s 34th Congressional District red.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) held a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony for Flores on the House floor at just after 6:30 p.m. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) stood beside her as she recited the oath of office. She was surrounded by members of the Texas delegation.

The House chamber erupted in cheers and applause when Flores completed the oath.

Flores was elected to fill the seat held by Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela (Texas), who resigned from office in March. She made headlines when she won the special election in the 34th Congressional District, which has traditionally been a Democratic stronghold.

The Texas Republican secured 51 percent of the vote, according to The New York Times. Democrat Dan Sanchez was her closest competitor, with 43.3 percent.

Flores’s victory made her the first Mexican-born congresswoman in American history. She left Mexico for the U.S. when she was 6 years old.

The win in the Lone Star State drove Republican optimism about Hispanic voters in the party.

National Republican Congressional Committee Executive Director John Billings wrote in a post-election memo that her win “is proof that Republicans have a winning message with Hispanic voters and that no Democrat is safe in the current political environment.”

Flores’s term expires at the end of January. In November, she will face off against Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas), who currently represents Texas’ 15th Congressional District. After redistricting, Gonzalez said he would run for reelection in the 34th Congressional District, which leans heavily Democratic.

Kick his azz.

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) held a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony for Flores on the House floor”

No doubt that sequence of events got Pelosi’s dentures flopping around in her pie hole.

This must be a nightmare for the Left. All these years of taking Mexican immigrants and Mexican Americans for granted, pandering to them, indoctrinating them, enabling them to come here, and then come to find out that they can turn out as Conservative as anybody else and sitting at the verge of a possible Red Wave.

I had a much better day than Nancy Pelosi did.

Heard today the only immigrants they are turning away are the ones from Cuba and Venezuela (i.e. the ones who will never vote for the rats)

Is this true?

Would not be surprised at all.

the verge of a possible Red Wave

************

A red wave means little as long as sell outs like McCarthy, McConnell and the rest of GOP “leadership” are still in leadership positions. They will serve as a dam to block the wave from doing anything.

You can tell she’s a Republican, since the word “historic” is missing from the article. Everything a rat candidate does gets that label

Flores’s victory made her the first Mexican-born congresswoman in American history.

And now she’s a white nationalist.

Yes,

That started under Obama.

Cubans were no longer given the status they once held, i.e. fleeing a politically and religious oppressive communist regime.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/01/12/509575935/obama-administration-ends-refugee-policy-that-favored-cubans

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/01/14/obamas-cruel-policy-reversal-on-cuban-refugees/

There are folks that really believe it's some sort of conspiracy theory, or that there is no way everything can be political and that these sort of games are played.

That is very naive thinking. Every government agency and department has politically appointed folks running them. They are all political hacks doing their masters bidding. One to two levels down, all the bureaucrats are hand chosen by these political appointees. Even those bureaucrats (senior executive schedules) are essentially on board with the political games. What that really means is that EVERY decision that rises to these senior executives has a political consideration applied. That is true with the VA, FTC, DoE, DE, FCC, DOJ and all their agencies, NASA... and the Department Of State as well as our immigration policies and enforcement.

You better not even doubt for a second that where refugees are placed, how the borders are enforced, who gets what status is all looked at from a political perspective, i.e. demographics and elections. You shouldn't even think twice about whether Covid and how that was dealt with had a huge political consideration. If you think 6 January is just fair and objective enforcement of the law, you are naive, it was a political maneuver which removed three of the major grass roots leaders that would be a pain in Biden's ass, it intimidated many of the followers (even those that did NOTHING wrong were subject to an investigation and interviewed by the FBI - unprcendented), and discredited the movement (i.e. made it look bad). The DOJ was used as a “tool” in a political chess game because Garland is a political hack (read about him - Democrat, Democrat, Democrat...): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merrick_Garland

All of these top officials know what to say when asked, they all claim to be nonpartisan, fair, to not let politics creep into the decision making. However, they are all on a team which supports and promotes them, like Garland. He joined and has been on the same team ever since Bill Clinton (~1993).

Remember this? https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/obamas-new-mission-for-nasa-reach-out-to-muslim-world That is because everyone knows what the bigger agenda is and they all try to figure out how they can fit into that equation, even NASA or the National Park Service: https://www.npr.org/2013/03/26/175335253/sequester-cuts-affect-national-parks That was unnecessary nonsense and done only to grab headlines and to have an impact on the people - i.e. create pressure. Truth be told, there was zero need to close most parks as was done in the Obama era during sequestration. But the NPS knows what the agenda was and they made sure to be a good cog on the wheel.

The real question should be, how do we prevent the politicization of our entire government bureaucracy, IRS and all?: https://www.npr.org/2017/10/27/560308997/irs-apologizes-for-aggressive-scrutiny-of-conservative-groups

Because the leadership of every government organization is ALL hand picked by the politicians and parties, the agenda of that organization is heavily politically influenced even though that seems like a far fetched idea to some. It's that simple and it has been the case for many, many, years: https://www.nytimes.com/1973/04/03/archives/fbi-is-accused-of-political-spying.html (back then it was the other way around) Back then, the NYT’s was a credible high power investigative and objective source of news unlike what they are today: https://www.nytimes.com/1975/12/04/archives/new-jersey-pages-fbi-is-accused-of-political-acts-for-6-presidents.html
