Despite global inflation rates and the expectation of recession across a number of countries, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini says business has been better than ever, with all of its vehicles already sold out through 2024.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, the automaker is achieving record results in terms of vehicle orders and sales, delivering 5,090 cars over the first half of 2022. The figure represents a 4.9 percent increase over the same period last year and translates to a surge in operating profits by a staggering 70 percent. Most notably, 61 percent of its sales during the period were accounted for by the company’s SUV, the Lamborghini Urus, which has found a much wider market than its conventional supercar counterparts.
“With high interest rates and high inflation, we’re still going strong,” CEO Stephan Winkelmann told the outlet. “With the prices of energy skyrocketing, especially in Europe, we have not seen any slowdown yet.” Despite the stellar results and increasing costs of production, however, the executive claims that prices for its vehicles will not see much of an increase over the next year.
Elsewhere in the automotive industry, Acura has unveiled its Precision EV concept, combining Formula 1 cockpits with Italian power boat aesthetics.
It didn’t do anything.
It had a broken turbo and the parts were $2500 (1980’s $).
But it literally was a ‘Little Old Lady’ that owned it, probably 75 or older. She said she just wanted to get rid of it out of her yard.
It was a sedan, looked a lot like a VW Sirocco, only bigger..................
Lol. Lamborghini SUVs. Porsche SUVs. Ferrari SUVs. What a joke. Range Rovers. Bigger joke. If you want to get stranded the above are your ticket. It’s like all those BMW 1250GSes. Never off the Pavement. Poser City.
“Many of the wealthy have screwed over the smaller investors, so it’s no wonder they can still afford luxuries like this.”
A liberal told the same thing the other day, and year, and decade.
Surely they must all be electric for our woke overlords...
There has been a lot of stupidity on both the Left and the Right about economic news lately. Many on the right scream about how "terrible" the economy is. Save your literary gunpowder folks, because it's going to get a lot worse. Calling it bad now with low unemployment and strong demand just looks stupid.
But on the flip side, every time some leftist cheerfully points to strong demand as a sign all is well, they are cheering on the pouring of gasoline into the inflationary fire. That's going to come back to haunt them.
“Almost bought a Maserati once................”
Same here. I was just $70K short.
The one I contemplated was actually cheap..$2500.
But the repair would have cost three times that..................
I don’t think he got it.
Ah well, guess I will have to go to backup choice, the Dacia Sandero, James May’s favorite! Somewhat down market but the import parts should be cheaper.
Socialist answer. The wealthy got that way by stealing from the little guy. A socialist is someone who wants what you have but doesn’t want to work for it.
I always like to walk down Van Ness street next to Fenway Park in Boston when the game lets out because that is where all the players park their automobiles.
This past Friday night there was one Ferrari, a Tesla S(plaid) and a whole bunch of big trucks and fancy SUVs.
Generally the players seem to like big pick up trucks and large SUVs.
I suspect the Ferrari was probably owned by Xander Bogarts or JD Martinez. They both make about $20M/year.
I watch some super car repair channels on youtube. You get lambo owners consistently bringing in cars that are only a few years old, that need incredibly expensive repairs. The parts prices are insane.
It seems like lambo might make more money selling parts than cars
I think I will stick with my Caddy CTS-V, goes plenty fast and can be repaired just about anywhere in the USA
I watched a show the other night stating that Lamborghini started out in business making tractors.
The small "factory" was on a 2-lane country road and the "production line" was 3 cars.
The frame was titanium tubes with carbon fiber stretched over it with a custom AMG engine powering that supercar.
Now you know where the 40% that don’t care how things are going.
That number is one to keep an eye on.
