I’ve noticed that too.

I don’t recall the exact location. I think it was a small Alabama town and it was obviously a bad section of the town. There was a filthy sign in the window of a convenience store. On it was a few poor-quality photos showing bodies half in the store’s door and on the floor inside. It read, “on (a date a year earlier) someone shot these two. A reward of $10,000 is offered for any information leading to arrest and conviction.” My thinking was, damn! I’d take that down. My second thought was of the McDonalds that had been torn down. The third thought was of Marge Simpson who was a real estate salesman trying to unload a house where a notorious murder had taken place. It turns out the buyers where murder tourists who instantly set about recreating the murders. (I probably have a sick mind...)

Yep. He asked that they leave that part out of the show, and they did. When it leaked out, PBS tried to say they skipped over that family history because there was more important stories to tell. Turns out he had three different ancestors that owned slaves.
