Last week, a high school student brought a book to class for his teacher to review. In the book, there was a quote by Abraham Lincoln that contradicted his history lesson. Suppressed quote:
“Without the military help of the Black Freedmen, the war against the south could not have been won” - President Abraham Lincoln. The student also pointed out that the commonly known story about the Statue of Liberty differed from the actual historical account. The book, titled "The Secret Origins of Black Americans," utilized credible resources from government agencies such as the National Archives and the National Park Service. The teacher graciously permitted the student to share the book with the class. Unfortunately, the student faced disciplinary action and was suspended the next day. This unfortunate situation is occurring in various parts of the country.
“Teachers are concerned that they will be subject to a complaint for simply teaching honestly about U.S. history,” said Deborah Menkart, executive director of Teaching for Change, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building social justice in the classroom.
Menkart co-directs the Zinn Education Project, which hosted a National Teach Truth Day of Action on June 10, along with more than 50 co-sponsoring organizations, including the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Learning for Justice (LFJ) program.
“The critiques seem disingenuous and designed to intimidate or threaten the teacher and limit what can be taught,” Menkart said.
Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia censored materials in schools last year.

This is NOT the America I grew up in, sadly...... smh
Words are intimidating that liberals must use laws so words cannot be used.
Yet if the student had quoted Vladimir Lenin or Karl Marx, the suspension would probably not have occurred.
“This is NOT the America I grew up in, sadly...... smh”
Very true, and the America I grew up in DID NOT have leaders who wanted to get a nuclear war started - but I guess times change...
Truth is the new Hate Speech!
Who was the the student and what was the school? Considering the source of the story ( a group of leftists ) I’m a bit skeptical of the story.
As in Howard Zinn. If you love history, you could stop reading right there.
I wonder what the teacher objected to? Lincoln saying that freed Black Men were helpful in the war effort?
...I can’t understand why anyone would find that offensive.
We cannot coexist with this. Freedom and leftism can’t occupy the same space.
Let me confirm it for you. 🙂
Indeed!
That’s right!
It’s sad to see that.
Too many things are rushing headlong in this country directly towards totalitarian fascism.
This is not the country I grew up in.
I looked into this. The referenced book appears to be utter crap that is nearly as historically accurate as Black Athena. Give this BS a rest.
Author “Modern Anthropology” is afraid to provide a real name. I’m not surprised given how AWFUL this article is at providing basic information and telling a coherent story.
Thanks for posting it. I’m sure there’s a good story there waiting to be told by a competent author who can tell us the Five W’s in a logical fashion.
Leaders, no. MIC heads like LeMay? Absolutely.
As this involves journalists reporting about teachers and students i will await the sixth report which might have some truth in it.
