Singer-songwriter Terry Kirkman, a founding member of the 1960s folk-rock band the Association, has died. He was 83.
Kirkman’s death was confirmed on Sunday through a statement on the Association’s official Facebook page: “We’re saddened to report that Terry Kirkman passed away last night, RIP Terry. He will live on in our hearts and in the music he so brilliantly wrote.”

Thanks for the memories, Terry. Rest in Peace...............
I have their ‘best of’ on CD. Will have to pull that out and que it up this evening.
You beat me to it by “that” much.
Association was a 60s vocal pop group. Maybe somewhat akin to 5th Dimension “Up up and away”.
Despite their image they did their fair share of drugs. Terry’s big song was Cherish. May he RIP.
Terry Kirkman also wrote “Requiem for the masses” which was a particularly strange and difficult vocal piece that the Association actually performed live. Probably boring to many but it was different for its time. The church choir like intro kills me.

Technically they were not part of the bubble gum groups. Those came just a bit later, The Archie’s and a few others. My favorite from them was “Everything That Touches You”. Not as well known but a well done fine piece of Music.
He wrote Cherish. RIP Terry.
One of Rush Limbaugh’s best parodies ever used Windy. Except it was about Hillary. It was hilarious.
What a drag it is getting old....RIP
I know, but I think The Association was the band that bubblegum genre was based on, they were always upbeat.
Best song was “Never My Love”. No mention of it in the article.
One of the greatest examples of their harmonizing!
Maybe I’m nutz but I believe that The Association was one of the most talented harmonizing groups in history!😢
Every time I hear that song I'm once again a nine-year old with my transistor radio. That was a looong time ago.
Me too. I was a youngster, Maybe 10 to 12, and was with my family on vacation in the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina. A hurricane hit and an earthen dam broke and washed out the road and for a while we had no way to get out. My parents were worried, but I thought it was great. The cabin they had rented had a radio and the only station we could get clearly just had songs on a loop. This is one of them. I also remember Carly Simon "You're so Vain" and I will probably remember others after I post this.
They were at The Monterey Pop Festival along with Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin, etc. The performance was both amusing and very enjoyable.
They never got their due IMHO. They weren’t “cool” but they were just so good they could not be denied completely.
Another great one.
