Texas National Guard seizes key border crossing point, blocks Feds

The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions, saying he "is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them."

The Texas National Guard has seized control of city property in a key border crossing point and is restricting access by the Border Patrol, the Texas Military Department said in a statement obtained by Fox News's Bill Melugin.

The move comes amid myriad legal battles between Texas and the federal government over Operation Lone Star, Austin's unilateral effort to secure its border Mexico amid perceived apathy from the federal government and an unprecedented surge in illegal crossings.

The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions, saying he "is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them. His seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier."

Abbott in late December, signed a law making illegal entry into Texas a state crime and permitting authorities to arrest illegal immigrants and state judges to order their deportation. The state has also quarreled with Washington over its installation of a buoy barrier in the river and the installation of razor war along the shore.

"The Texas National Guard has maintained a presence with security points and temporary barrier in Shelby Park since 2021. The current posture is to prepare for future illegal immigrant surges and to restrict access to organizations that perpetuate illegal immigrant crossings in the park and greater Eagle Pass area," they told the outlet.

"Texas will continue to deploy Texas National Guard soldiers, DPS troopers, and more barriers, utilizing every tool and strategy to respond to President Biden’s ongoing border crisis," Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze told the New York Post.

Posse Commitatus limits the power of Federal troops, and prevents them from doing basic law enforcement. These are state troops and they are not regulated by that act, (Note, they routinely use them during riots) and they are preventing illegal aliens from entering the country.

“Texas hasn’t planned for this threat.”

They absolutely did. Texas is the only state in the union with a recognized legal right to secede if they want in place.

They may have to tighten their belts a bit, and a few rims might get bent, but they absolutely can get by without federal dollars.

“”Someone is going to Fed Prison over this.””

For what? They shut down a park between two border crossings, while it belongs to the city it falls under the jurisdiction of the state. Emergency declaration give the state that power. The border between Texas and Mexico is owned by private citizens and the the state, with the exception of Port of Entry’s owned by the Feds. We own the border to the middle of the river. NM, AZ and CA gave up their border with Mexico in 1907 through the Roosevelt Reservation. A 60ft stretch of land from the east side of New Mexico to the Pacific ocean belongs to the Feds. NM, AZ and CA do not share a border with Mexico, they share a border with the Feds, who share a border with Mexico.

This is what Civil War II looks like...it goes very slowly until it doesn’t. The Feds have WAAAAYYYYY to much power and states are far too afraid of losing $$$ to do the right thing.

The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions, saying he "is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them."

Thereafter, the Biden Administration announced that the Border Patrol was in open rebellion in what amounts to insurrection.

"Given their insubordination and refusal to follow our unlawful orders we are ordering the agency disbanded, quoted one "high ranking" anonymous source. Their duties will be given to the Department of Labor to ensure the speedy issuance of work permits and other entailments.

"Congress has failed to address the immigration issue so the administration has decided, through executive order, to do whatever we want"./s

"We dare the GOP to do anything about it".

For what?

Border control is a Federal role regardless of who owns the land. It won't stand.

The fedgov will escalate this quickly. They have to. Expect insurrection charges.

Isn't the obvious way to escalate this to nationalize the Texas NG? Then they would have to follow Federal command structure.

OMG! The Cancel Culture Clubbers will be cancelling it and moving it to somewhere in Colorado or Lost Wages. I didn’t know it was coming to Texas. The panic should start in 4...3...2...1

US Constitution... Article IV, Section 4:

The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

Texas needs to start kinetically repelling these invaders. Start shooting the bastards at the border, and they'll stop trying to invade.

Screw the courts Abbot. Quit wasting money.

The courts are corrupt and useless.

Protect TX citizens.

Arrest any Fed that tries to stop you. Hold them indefinitely with NO legal representation. Treat them like J6 people.

F all of them.
