In Major Setback for Democracy, Insurrectionist is Allowed to Stay on Ballot

In a major setback for democracy, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in Trump v. Anderson that Congress, rather than states, is responsible for enforcing the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution when it comes to federal offices.

The ruling means Donald Trump is still eligible to appear on the Colorado ballot, despite his role in the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, a violation of the “disqualification clause” of the 14th Amendment.

This decision sets a dangerous precedent for the permissible conduct of future presidents. By allowing Donald Trump to put himself above the law, this ruling declares that the Constitution of the United States can be selectively enforced. In failing to hold the former President accountable for attempting to destroy a 200-year history of a peaceful transfer of power, SCOTUS puts the survival of our democracy at risk...

“Today’s ruling will be remembered as a dark day for our democracy. Donald Trump lied, cheated, and unleashed violence when the election did not go his way, and his ongoing incitement has led to an unprecedented rise in attacks and death threats against election workers, judges, and other public servants. By refusing to hold Trump accountable and allowing him to skirt around the pillars of our Constitution, SCOTUS has greenlit this behavior for future public officials.”

Headlines like this make me laugh.

Democracy is allowing people to vote for whomever they want. Duh.

Leftists are the biggest sore losers and babies on the planet. Here even their hack darlings on the court tell them they’re wrong, and still they can’t give it up

Amazing how Liberals are hand-wringing over the “setback for Democracy” without even acknowledging that it was a 9-0 decision, and their own beloved Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson voted “against Democracy.”

Trump needs to find defamation lawyers.

The Fox/Dominion lawsuit indicates lots of money can be had.

“Despite his role”…. In telling people to remain peaceful? And of course never mind he’s actually never been charged with anything, let alone a trial. But leftists never let actual facts get in the way of a good lynching.
I thought this WAS a Babylon Bee article.

“The Babylon Bee channeled leftists:

They can’t even grasp the ludicrous nature of the position, such that they have become a joke to the SCOTUS and even Babylon Bee. Wow, just wow.

To paraphrase and old movie line “I am not sure you know what that word means (Democracy)”

The only people undermining the constitution in this case are the Soros paid communists at Common Cause. Everyone involved in the effort to remove Trump from the ballot should be investigated for sedition.

Trump has at least the same level of qualified immunity as Biden’s Secretary of Defense, Biden’s Attorney General or the guy who killed Ashley Babbitt.

It’s not absolute. Derek Chauvin was sent to prison.

"Trump has never been charged with insurrection!"

Wrong. Trump was impeached a second time by the House and acquitted by the Senate. Congress, as the only body constitutionally enabled to do so, tried President Trump and found him not guilty.

Everyone who didn't understand this needs to be banged in the head and be told they are stupid and should shut up their ignorant mouth.

And the media liars? They need to get some jail time for deliberately misinforming the public.

Every idiot lawyer or judge that advocated this should get a hearing to see how they could be so very *WRONG* about the law, and at the very least go through remedial training in basic constitutional law before they are permitted to resume anything related to the practice of law.
