We knew someone who used to take his metal detector to a few Hill Country rivers, after major summer holidays ... he’d come up with wedding rings, Rolex watches, etc.

“ He said he keeps everything he finds in the water in the hopes of returning them to their owners.”

I’d probably just keep the stuff I find in a bag not in the water. /s

“...makes a living using his metal detector to recover lost items from the water at Indiana’s Chain O’ Lakes”

Then...

“...he keeps everything he finds in the water in the hopes of returning them to their owners. I haven’t sold anything, including a white gold Cartier ring, unless I get it back to the owner”

Sounds like a hard way to make a living.

Scuba diving in a Texas lake I found an iPod at the bottom. It was still playing music when I plugged in earphones!
