Look at the missile prices in the article, $20,000-$50,000, and then update them for the present value of money. Iron Dome typically fires two missiles at each target. The enemy can fire thousands of missiles. Now, the software decides which missiles will hit something and which can be ignored. But guided drones must be taken down. They can cost as little as $600. A large incoming salvo could exhaust the defenses.

Price isn't the issue at hand, replacement of used assets is. It will take months or even years to replace stockpiles used last night. Even that assumes there is no arms embargo from our professional war losing congresscritters.
