True, but the same could have been said of Japan. When the Japanese were catching up with the West it was mostly using technologies that the West had already developed (the transistor radio was a special case, developed in the US and Japan at about the same time but first marketed in a big way by the Japanese). When Japan had caught up with the West, their economy became more troubled, but they became more inventive and innovative.

I was wrong about the transistor radio. The American inventors of the transistor had made a transistor radio in the 1940s, but it took years to make them commercial and mass-produced.
China is in huge economic trouble. Trouble that isn’t going away. They are not taking over the world. 🙄

If I had to pick an infrastructure project that we need, I would say rails. We need to update our rails. Our rails are still in the 1920s and 30s.
Don’t forget the superhighway from South America to our border to increase the ongoing invasion. If China succeeds in destroying us, they become Number One by default.
America may be the last superpower on Earth,but our collective leadership seems hellbent on abdication of that role. China may not rise to actual domination on their own, but they seem well positioned to take control of the power vacuum America is creating.
China recently admitted that their population has dropped from 1.5 to 1.4 billion. They have lost a 100 MILLION PEOPLE.
China is in serious trouble from a demographic standpoint. As is South Korea, Italy, Japan. The problem with China is that they do not have anyone who wants to immigrate to their country. In fact, many of the Chinese are leaving. Flying to Ecuador and coming up through the Darien Gap to our southern border. This is not because they are trying to take over the US. It is because they are escaping China.
The Matthews China Fund topped out in November of 2021. It is down over 50% since then. I know. I OWN IT. I wish I did not.

HOWEVER, it is not anti American to point out that we are in a debt spiral. We continue to double the debt. Now 34 Trillion.
We will get to the point that the ENTIRE US budget will be just the INTEREST on the national debt.
It is also factual that other countries central banks are increasing their gold reserves and reducing their US DOLLARS.
The ten year treasury auctions are now 4.4%. This means that mortgage rates are going UP not down.
Credit card debt is also at all time highs.
Job growth is primary in part time jobs going to people who were not born in the USA.
These are all facts. These facts are not good for the USA.
We need to reduce spending, raise interest rates and go into the recession that they have been trying to postpone ever since covid. The longer they try to push it out, the worse it will be.
