Germany to BAN DRIVING At Weekends To Fight ‘Climate Change’
Daily Fetched ^ | April 17, 2024 | Jason Walsh

The German transport minister said he will soon be enforcing a complete ban on driving at weekends so the country can meet its ‘net zero’ targets and fight climate change.

Volker Wissing said that meeting carbon emissions reduction targets will be impossible unless laws are changed to restrict people’s movements and car ownership.

According to Wissing, the law would need to be changed by mid-July.

Wissing wrote in a letter to coalition parliamentary group leaders:

“A corresponding reduction in traffic performance would only be possible through restrictive measures that are difficult to communicate to the population, such as nationwide and indefinite driving bans on Saturdays and Sundays.”

Meanwhile, the Green Party and the Social Democrats (SPD) said Wissing was just scaremongering, while Greenpeace accused him of blocking climate protection measures.

The leader of the FDP, Finance Minister Christian Lindner, supports Wissing, saying, The climate protection law of the previous government could soon lead to driving bans.”

In a recent radio interview, Wissing doubled down, saying he “told the citizens the truth.”

“You can only save such large amounts [of emissions] by giving up cars and trucks.”

“Those like Greenpeace and the Greens, who always say that the climate protection law must remain as it is, may now be frightened by the consequences of their policies,” he added.

He just “told the citizens the truth. You can only save such large amounts [of emissions] by giving up cars and trucks.”

Other European countries are also falling in line with the WEF climate agenda.

Last year, we reported that Stockholm, Sweden, announced it would ban gas and diesel vehicles by 2025.

The Daily Fetched reported:

The Swedish capital is now poised to ban gas and diesel cars, beginning in a 20 block area around the capital’s finance hub.

According to Bloomberg, the area will only allow “electric cars, some hybrid trucks and fuel cell vehicles.”

The capital of Sweden is set to lead major capitals by considering the prohibition of vehicles under the WEF climate agenda.

Other cities like Paris, Athens, and Madrid have also set their sights on banning diesel cars.

Meanwhile, in London, Mayor Sadiq Khan has implemented low-emission zones, which charge anyone with a non-compliant vehicle £12 per day to drive.

Coming to the US around 2029. Also will be odd/even driving days based on some factors. Then eventually, a punitive tax per any mile driven. I’ve seen enough during COVID to know that no one is going to be stopping this BS.

Germany’s economy is already collapsing under the weight of among other things soaring energy costs. By reducing the capability to transact business two days a week, this plan will really help the economy a lot.

I dunno, it seems like in the name of climate change (with maybe a little Covid mixed in), the state would be able to give itself the authority to control every aspect of the lives of its citiizens.

...oh.
