The Orthodox rabbi at Columbia University and Barnard College sent a message recommending Jewish students leave campus and go home, as anti-Israel agitators have continued an "encampment" on campus and participants were caught on camera espousing full-on support for terrorism and supporting violence towards Jewish students.
In a WhatsApp message sent to hundreds before the start of Passover, Rabbi Elie Buechler, director of OU-LJIC at Columbia/Barnard, told students to leave "as soon as possible" until the situation improves, noting that "what we are witnessing in and around campus is terrible and tragic."
"The events of the last few days, especially last night, have made it clear that Columbia University’s Public Safety and the NYPD cannot guarantee Jewish students’ safety in the face of extreme antisemitism and anarchy," Buechler wrote. "It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home as soon as possible and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved."
The rabbi added: "It is not our job as Jews to ensure our own safety on campus. No one should have to endure this level of hatred, let alone at school."
House GOP Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., on Sunday demanded Columbia University President Dr. Nemat "Minouche" Shafik to "immediately resign" given how Columbia’s leadership "has clearly lost control of its campus" within the last 24 hours, "putting Jewish students’ safety at risk."
Stefanik asserted that Columbia leadership’s hours of preparation for their testimony before the House Education and the Workforce Committee hearing last week "clearly was an attempt to cover up for their abject failure to enforce their own campus rules and protect Jewish students on campus."

The ADL is strangely silent.
So, in 2024, there is a segment of society that wants to kill Jews. 2024, not 1938.
Most universities in Israel have most any degree program available entirely in English and certainly welcome Americans.
And this segment seems to have the tacit support of people in our own government.
To my surprise, they're reporting this on CNN. Usually they would ignore incidents like this one.
Even Jewish people who vote Dem should be thankful for the 2nd Amendment.
I’m not promoting the group, just for information:
“Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of gun rights in the United States and to encourage Americans to understand, uphold, and defend “all of the Bill of Rights for all Citizens.” The group was founded by U.S. Navy veteran Aaron S. Zelman in 1989. It recognizes the Second Amendment as protecting a pre-existing natural law right of individuals to keep and bear arms.”
Jewish vote for President:
2016 Trump (R) 24% //// H.Clinton (D) 71%
2020 Trump (R) 30%//// Biden (D) 68%
Since 1968 overall: 71% Dem //// 26% Rep.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Jews will vote this time. Joe Biden is pretty pro-Israel but you can see the cracks in the Democratic Party with the Squad and others who are openly pro-Hamas.
It must be killing the media to mention this. It doesn’t fit The Narrative, unless they can find some White Supremacist Nazis on the Columbia campus to blame. Who seem notably scarce on campus to this un-jaundiced eye...
If you see them from the rear views of Chris Christie or Whoopi Goldberg then I want advance notice to clear out of the area.🏃
I find it hard to believe that the NYPD “cannot” guarantee their safety. More like will not.
Democrats have to completely destroy and then a real leader steps up to the plate.
I have a Jewish friend who just yesterday said that although she thinks Trump is pro jew his people are not. She said Trump could put us in concentration camps! OMG! She let it out...she usually keeps quiet.
A tragic miscalculation.
The Left will dump her and others as soon as they are no longer useful.
Or ordered not to.

She thinks she can protect her safety by taking off her menorah pin and replacing it with a butterfly. Sigh. All is well. Diversity!
The semester is almost over and this is a bad time for that kind of action, although if your life is in danger, there’s no point in staying either.
Columbia should offer those students a way to finish their courses online and provide some secure way to take their finals.
