On Good Friday, March 29, 2024, I I cut my hand and had to go to the nearby Urgent Care her in Phoenix.
They stitched up my hand and scheduled me to come back in a couple of weeks to get the stitches removed.
When I went back, the Urgent Care center got masky in the meantime. I told them I would wait outside, and "You do know that the studies now show that the masks don't do anything useful."
When I came in, I did put the mask on over my mouth, but not my nose. When I was in the office, I removed it entirely. They didn't care. My guess is they were following a directive.
The cut needed to heal more, so they told me to come back later. Today, I went back and had the stitches removed. The signs requiring masks were gone. The people in the waiting area were mask-free. The workers were mostly maskless.
Now, I do not believe my one remark and minimal compliance by itself made the difference, but I doubt I was not alone, with responses ranging from an eye roll to "Not this $%^& again!"
Anyway, I am hopeful that enough people aren't going to play along if they tried what they did last time. We will see, I am afraid.

If you see a person wearing a mask, he’s young, a socialist, and is signaling that he hates you.
It’s become a black thing, now.

During the worst of COVID, my sister refused to wear a mask at any time and would ostentatiously cough or sneeze due to seasonal allergies. As a result, she got into several public spats — and immensely enjoyed every one of them.

My NH hospital finally gave up on its mask mandate this Autumn; however, signs of “Gun-Free Zone” still adorn entryways.

I’ve always removed stitches myself without having to return to the doctor.

Masking in health care areas are at the direction of a state or local DPH. In some smaller locations it might have to do with current internal issues. It has nothing to do with patient “input.”

All it takes is ONE shooting at a hospital and they all freak out.
The criminals don’t care about the laws and all the gun free zones do is make it easier for them to slaughter everyone.

I made sure to give them my business.
I spent a year and a half purposely going into merchants with or without signs to see if they meant it. Many didn't, but didn't want a hassle from the County/State. The big scores were my coffee shop (Lifeboat Coffee), QT gas station/convenience, Harvey's Wineburger, primary care physician, eye doctor, dentist, Best Buy in Tempe (but NOT on Camelback/Phoenix), etc.
This has helped me form new shopping patterns for all my remaining days.

Here in Phoenix, they tend to be Asian, very old or frail looking. The black folks want nothing to do with it.

The stitches are on the back of my right hand. I am right-handed. I also know almost NOTHING about medical (despite my comic book Doctor nom). I let my wife read up on medical remedies, women like that sort of thing.
She might have been able to do it, but I figured to let the folks who put them there take them out. Watching her do it, I see that long narrow scissors and tweezers are the main tools. She also dressed the scar and put some special bandages on it. I think I already paid for that stuff.

On paper, yes. In reality, nothing changed from last week to this week that would cause a change in policy. I imagine that the parent company (Honor Hospital) has discretion for stricter rules, or possibly to suggest masks with actually requiring them (without telling anyone).

Let’s say someone in that office had been exposed to measles. They would mask up to protect other patients. Stuff like that is very local, and isn’t announced.

That would have nothing to do with requiring patients without a contagious disease to mask up.
