On Friday, left-wing talk show host Bill Maher predicted that this year’s Democratic National Convention (DNC) would witness a repeat of the infamous riots that plagued the 1968 gathering.
Breitbart reports that Maher, on his HBO show “Real Time,” compared the anti-Vietnam protests of the 1960s to the ongoing anti-Israel protests on college campuses across the country today. The upcoming 2024 DNC will be held in Chicago, the same city that hosted the 1968 DNC.
Maher reflected on his memories of the 1968 DNC and the violent protests that overshadowed the convention’s nomination of then-Vice President Hubert Humphrey, saying that “I was twelve years old when they had it in 1968 in Chicago. It was like my baptism into politics, like, wow, this is kind of interesting shit going on on TV, and I know this is politics.”
“But because there [were] hippies in the streets and the cops were beating the sh[--] out of them, it was really quite dramatic,” Maher continued. “And it’s going to happen again, because the kids, they’re going to be out there in force chanting about Genocide Joe, because this is their new cause now. This, they think, is the cause of their lifetime, Hamas, to be on their side.”
“So, I’m just wondering how the Democrats are going to come out of that convention. Because I remember the last time that happened in Chicago, they got bloodied by it, and Nixon won the White House,” Maher concluded.
The anti-Israel protests have resulted in the largest rift within the progressive base, with thousands of grassroots activists, primarily young college students, expressing their opposition to Joe Biden’s support for Israel and demanding that he turn against Israel in favor of “Palestine.” Protesters have repeatedly heckled Biden and other prominent Democrats at campaign events across the country, and protests have swarmed college campuses, with Columbia University being the most prominent to date. Last weekend, protesters across the country blocked off several major bridges, including the Golden Gate Bridge.
In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson infamously decided not to seek a second full term despite his landslide victory just four years prior, with the anti-Vietnam sentiment being the primary reason for his sharp decline in approval. Humphrey did not satisfy the anti-Vietnam protesters due to his role in Johnson’s administration. This element, along with other key factors such as the third-party candidacy of Alabama Governor George Wallace, ultimately led to Republican Richard Nixon winning in an electoral landslide.

Oh I think there’s more than a moderate chance of that. Not only is the Hamas wing openly letting their Jew hate out but also a whole lot of Blacks absolutely HATE the tidal wave of illegals flooding in taking up housing, jobs and public assistance that had previously been going to them, etc.
The Frankenstein coalition of Jews, Feminists, Blacks, Muslims, The alphabet people and the ultra rich is coming apart at the seams.
The difference this year would be that this time, the revolution will not be televised. In 1968 we got to watch the leftwing in all its glory via ongoing live televised coverage. There will be no such coverage this year, just brief relatively minor snippets on the evening news.
Any bets on just how selective the media will be covering the DNC convention?
To the right audience, it’ll be pay-per-view worthy.
Guess we would see the real DNC supporters.
“This administration and the people of Chicago have never and will [never] condone brutality at any time,” said Daley in response to criticism of the police force. “They will never permit a lawless, violent group of terrorists to menace the lives of millions of people; destroy the purpose of this national convention, and take over the streets of Chicago.”
Afterward, the demonstrators believed most Americans would side with them over what had happened regarding police behavior.
Didn’t happen.
Polls showed the majority supported Daley’s tactics. And many believed that the chaos in Chicago paved the way for Richard Nixon’s election two and a half months later.

It will be interesting as those democrats from 1968 are now the one’s defunding and letting it burn or letting them riot as the police stand by and do nothing. That is what is going to be very different.
The socialist organizing, now has modern communications conveniences, but it is the same ill will that did the “work” of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Walter Cronkite, Eric Holder, SDS (students for a democratic society), “the Weathermen”, Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s teachers.
The Democrat Party’s organization of confiscation, deception, depravity, destruction, envy, greed, hate, jealousy, power, pride, rationing, and theft.

The article mentioned Hubert H Humphrey. I recall that leftist well. He was a Minnesota politician that the media touted as having the highest IQ in DC. He was a jerk.
Chicago has more problems than the Jew haters. I talked to a Chicago transplant a few days ago and a huge problem that was never fixed is all the jobs moving out of Chicago to China leaving manufacturing districts to the drug gangs that sell dope to the ultra rich. There are many Blacks that do not like the white elites while they are jobless in the hell holes left over when the slums were created by manufacturing disappearing. When China got all the manufacturing equipment the rich got richer and the poor got poorer and crime skyrocketed. I’d be PO’d too.
I can see this whole DNC operation coming apart at the seems. It’s time to stock up on popcorn.

I doubt it. The “demonstrations” aren’t organic. The benefactors will ensure they are stopped for the convention.
