Was it all that Baby Proofing?

A generation of reckless, entitled, ill-educated brats has stampeded American universities off a high place into the sea.

Watching the idiocy on college campuses this week and seeing all the explanations for protests in favor of murderous Hamas, two tweets seem particularly on point. There’s the great David Burge (Iowahawk) who calls these outbursts “Hamas slumber parties,” and says “This is like staging a pro-Nazi lunch counter sit-in and getting mad that people won’t treat you like you’re a modern-day Rosa Parks.” He attributes protests for the Intifada and slogans reading “from the River to the Sea” by numbskulls who have admittedly no idea what they are protesting as the result of baby-proofing houses, “There is,” he says, “no better educational experience for a child than finding out what happens when you stick a butter knife into an electrical outlet.”

I think he’s right. Helicopter parents who shield kids from the consequences of their actions have raised a generation of reckless, entitled, ill-educated brats. (I’d add to his admonition, the habit of so many parents to spend evenings “helping” their kids with their homework. My view is they either do it or don’t, and if they don’t, they can learn the consequences.)

Elon Musk, another of those whose sage observations I endorse, says:

“The axiomatic error undermining much of Western Civilization is “weak makes right”. If someone accepts, explicitly or implicitly, that the oppressed are always the good guys, then the natural conclusion is that the strong are the bad guys.”

So Hamas engaged in the most brutal attack on a much stronger neighbor, and even before Israel's perfectly predictable response in defense of its own people, Hamas becomes worthy of sympathy and protection. The Israeli counterattack is falsely described as “genocide,” self-rule in Gaza is misnamed “occupation;”

It’s relative to the situation, which at some point becomes so dire, that ignorance is no excuse because ignorance is impossible. At that point a man might well ask, “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!”

Indeed? I cut my teeth on his prose. It’s finally a reason to visit twitter, except I worry he’s overripe, a condition more obvious in satirists, and more regrettable.

Participation trophies are wrong on every level. Purportedly, “for the children” the idea is promoted by “well meaning” virtue signaling busybodies and destroys the moral compass of those it is supposedly cherishing. One of my sons was 8 about 22 years ago when I first heard about the obscene concept.

Back in the late 80s my wife and I started hearing the public school teachers start using the buzzword, "Self-Esteem" in regards to teaching as well as in sports.

We talked about the disastrous consequences that would follow and we were 100% correct.

In my lifetime, I have yet to meet anyone truly understanding the concept of Fire until holding a lighted match to the point where SONAVABITCH!!! , it burned a few fingertips.

Trying always has an element of failure built in from the start. “I will try to be at your party on Friday night” means “aint gonna be there”.

The worst part about this is, I'm not even talking about taking up arms and trying to fight the military, or CWII, or anything like that. I'm just talking about choosing alternatives to paying the companies that are actively working against us, IE making our money count, and most of us can't even do that.

This tribal insanity creates a 'pity party' culture with the most inappropriate the most incentivized... 'toxic incentives an understatement. Hello homeless and violence rewards.

Someone earlier pointed out that it took Democrats and their supporters only four years to go from “punch a Nazi” to “kill the Jews”.

It wouldn't even have taken that long if the commies in control hadn't wanted it that way. Modern leftist agitators are nothing but brainwashed slaves, conditioned from childhood to follow the herd, which follows the instructions of the commies in charge. Tomorrow they could be told to hate the Amish, and they would do it with equal fervor.
