many or most mentally ill/severe addicts want the freedom to carry on in the streets, they don't want medication or rehab.

we need to change the narrative from helping the 'homeless' ie. drug addicts and mentally ill preying on the rest of us, to helping our society.

There must be empty wearhouses somewhere they could move these people into, of course they wouldn’t be in business districts so they could panhandle all day!!! There has to be a solution, there has to be a large piece of property that could be fenced off where they could put up their tents and city could put porta potties for them!!! These IDIOT legislators can NOT let these people continue to live in front of businesses and pooping in the streets!! People bring them food which is then also left in the streets creating a perfect breeding ground for rats EVERYWHERE!!! If they want to live this way these IDIOTS need to set up a place for them to live this way AWAY from downtown areas once the areas are set up NO MORE tents anywhere but in these designated areas!!!

unfortunately, short of locked dormitories with mandatory medication, I don't see a solution.

any free abode, away from their source of money and drugs, would be instantly abandoned.        the FIRST things a junkie thinks about whenever they awake are: drugs and how to pay.

sadly, 'homeless' don't need homes; WE need them in jails (mental health facilities) with required medication instead of armed guards.

They are fools...I live in SW Florida.....the homeless are picked up by the police for whatever...taken to mental health for ten days...that is the maximum time...then if they choose go to Salvation Army..for drug treatment..the ones who go back on the street start the process over...

I guess they either get straight or move to another city.

after Salvation Army...they go to Catholic Charities which gets them a job and temporary housing...
