DUmmie FUnnies 02-08-06 ("For the love of God, her life WAS political" ---Pitt)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | February 8, 2006 | William Rivers Pitt, DUmmies, and PJ-Comix

Posted on 02/08/2006 6:17:24 AM PST by PJ-Comix

Does it really suprise anybody that William Rivers "Pied Piper" Pitt has melodramatically glommed onto the Coretta Scott King funeral in order to draw attention to the most important person in the world---himself? This is a familiar pattern to all who are familiar with Pitt. Previous such glommings included his infamous visit to the Texas ditch (while staying at a nearby air conditioned motel) in order to bask in the reflected glow of the publicity given to Cindy Sheehan. Then there was his grandstanding in LaFayette Park for the First Day When Everything Finally Changed last June followed by the Second Day When Everything Finally Changed But Was Buried Under Hurricane Coverage last September. Oh, on the latter, I need to add this disclaimer as per Pitt. Pied Piper Pitt never ever had any personal contact with any member of A.N.S.W.E.R. even though his PDA organization was intimately involved with organizing that September rally in D.C. with A.N.S.W.E.R.. Pitt was able to avoid the deadly A.N.S.W.E.R. microbes by having himself hermetically sealed in a giant body condom. Okay, now that I am done with that mandatory disclaimer, let us look at the latest example of Pitt grandstanding in this DUmmie THREAD melodramatically titled, "For the love of God, her life WAS political." As usual, the Pied Piper Pitt grandstanding is in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, watching Pitt from across the schoolyard, is in the [brackets]:

For the love of God, her life WAS political

[For the love of God, look at MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!]

Egads.

[Spaketh the ex-Newton school teacher.]

Any long-term fight for civil rights, workers rights and peace is going to INVOLVE POLITICS. It is, in point of fact, going to be ALL ABOUT politics.

[Including her FUNERAL? Every heard of the concept, R.I.P.?]

What, were they going to spend the day discussing her favorite songs? Her favorite color?

[A life not totally about politics is empty according to Pied Piper Pitt.]

Her life was about politics - the politics of freedom and the politics of equality - as was her husband's life.

[It was also about Pied Piper Pitt. And if it wasn't, Pitt is sure to weasel himself into the funeral as he has done with this thread.]

This whole thing is just so much stinking bullshit.

[Sound a little nervous there, Pitt? Afraid that the reaction to the politicizing of her funeral will have the same effect as the politicized Wellstone funeral in 2002? Now to read from the rest of the DUmmie chorus...]

Bush was SITTING THERE because of politics, wasn't he? He certainly wasn't there out of support for the woman's lifework. He was there LAUGHING to himself that he has put in place the means to DISMANTLE all the advances made through the work of the Kings, Carter and Clinton.

[Yeah, everybody was there, especially Bill Clinton, for entirely noble reasons except for Bush. He was just there to laugh at everybody even when they insulted him during the eulogies.]

AMEN, Brother Will! How right you are ... It worked with Wellstone, though, and they're going to try and do it again. All we can do is keep countering as you say.

[The Wellstone funeral showed just how out of touch the Democrats were/are. They turned it into a mass political rally and then were later shocked when the public heartily disapproved.]

Though her life was about politics, her funeral should not have been. It should have been about celebrating her life and accomplishments, not demeaning Bush for his failures and foolishness. There were greiving relatives who were there to honor her memory not dishonor the chimp. A funeral is not the place for partisan pot-shots.

[LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]

Speaking out against injustice is right. But a funeral is not a forum. A funeral is for the loved ones to have one last chance to say goodbye, not for people to have a chance at sliming somebody they don't like.

Speaking out against injustice is right. But a funeral is not a forum. A funeral is for the loved ones to have one last chance to say goodbye, not for people to have a chance at sliming somebody they don't like.

[We heard you before, you LOUSY FREEPER TROLL! For expressing that a funeral should show proper respect, prepare for your Tombstoning.]

You sound like a Catholic. Funerals mean diff. things to diff. people

[Only Catholics have non-political funerals. In all other religions, converting a funeral to a partisan political rally is the norm.]

For a warmonger at the funeral of a PEACE activist. He should have respected the King Legacy and stayed away.

[And then be blamed for disrepecting Mrs. King by snubbing her funeral.]

I have made it very clear to my family - I want an over the top Irish wake. I want stories told and much laughter and commradery. If someone doesn't puke in my casket, they didn't do it right, imho!

[I'll be happy to oblige on the puking part.]

If anyone wanted to take shots at anyone they should have called a press conference for after the funeral at a separate location.

[Uh-Oh! Another LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]

mlk was wiretapped...

[...on orders of rfk.]

Secondly the King family were the victims of illegal wiretaping. Why would any sane person not mention that at a time when other citizens feel threatened by the same illegality.

[Perhaps Lowery should have denounced Teddy's brother from the podium for authorizing that illegal wiretapping.]

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that... Hillary was a "friend" of hers. DO tell of all the time they spent together. Okay, to be fair...I have no idea why Hillary spoke. None. After watching her speak, I still had no further clue as to why she spoke. Perhaps a member of the King family invited her to speak. Why, I wouldn't know. She sure isn't the speaker her husband, or anyone else who was there, is. That same intonation she uses for every engagement... Can't someone offer her speech coaching?

[Pied Piper Pitt can give Hillary some coaching in self-serving melodramatics.]

They talked about the Iraq war! WTF? That discourse does not belong at a funeral. Period.

[And your mere presence does not belong in DUmmieland. Period.]

Was Reagan's funeral truth or politics according to white corporate America? I thought it was a big load of propaganda bullshit, and that half of it was made up to advance the political image of George Bush, following in the boots of Saint Ronnie. How come the white corporate media didn't call that "political"??? "Political" is only what they don't want to hear. Wise up.

[Ronald Reagan's funeral wasn't called political because it WASN'T political. Gorbachev was sitting in the audience and guess what? Nobody attacked him. In fact NOBODY was attacked at Reagan's funeral. Why? Because it was a FUNERAL. They were there to HONOR Ronald Reagan, NOT to attack anyone or turn it into a GOP political rally.]

NO. Coretta Scott King was a victim of warrant-less wiretapping, to not talk about the elephant in the living room would have been a disservice to this woman and her legacy.

[The elephant in the living room was Teddy Kennedy whose brother authorized those illegal wiretaps.]

It's the Wellstone funeral thing all over again

[And this DUmmie wins a Kewpie Doll for having a brief moment of mental clarity!]

For the LOVE OF GOD,...her life was BEYOND POLITICAL,...Will.

In spite of your obsession, she lived for the human race,....not the political race. Don't disgrace her life with your obsession. Please.

[Uh-Oh! DUmmie dissent from Pied Piper Pitt. Could this have been a posting from a former disgruntled Pitt student?]

That made no sense. Care to try again?

[Said Pitt to the schoolgirl...]

""As we honor Ronald Reagan today, we must never forget that 9-11 happened because Bill Clinton was too busy sodomizing interns to take Al Queda seriously.""

Would have been tacky as all get out but the truth's the truth!

Mrs. King was a dignified lady who held her head high and took on the challenges that confronted her in life.

I felt that those who turned her funeral into a political rally instead of a celebration of her life and accomplishments greatly disrespected her memory.

The service should have been about honoring her memory and not to push political agenda.

...he has put in place the means to DISMANTLE all the advances made through the work of the Kings, Carter and Clinton.

I have asked numerous black people what clinton or carter did for them. Have NEVER received an answer other than a lame "I can't think of one particular thing right now".

That reminds me... I was sick over the weekend. Did the big rally down in DC wind up driving BushCo from office and installing John Kerry as President?

DUmmies admit that Mrs King's corpse made a useful PR prop:

Zanne: As liberals, we have to grab any opportunity we can to get the message out

Pacifist Patriot : democrats had a chance to make points without media intervention

I watched that debacle unfold. I was expecting an assload of balloons and confetti to drop from the ceiling at any moment! I was embarrassed and I have no connection to the Democratic Party at all.

No, Pitt, her life was about an idea (try and get one once in a while, and maybe you'll understand). Politics is only one of many ways to communicate and advance ideas. The political landscape is affected by ideas, ideas aren't created by politics.

I've found a new motto to paste under Dem bumper stickers:

Proud To Be A Democrat
We Use Dead Black People As Props

Kinko's here I come! :)

She was not being honored by Ralph Edwards on THIS IS YOUR LIFE. This was a funeral. Unfortunately, rather than sticking to honoring her life, some ***clowns used it for political theatre.

Kristinn was there. There's a thread with some photos.

Let's put it this way, there were more porto-potties than there were wackos. Though the wackos had some nice posters like a big one showing the head of a beheaded GW Bush. Al Reuters printed a less inflamitory poster picture of coure.

I felt that those who turned her funeral into a political rally instead of a celebration of her life and accomplishments greatly disrespected her memory.

And I felt it fell well short of the rip-roarin', snot snortin', rootin' tootin' Paul Welstone Memorial.  I'd meticulously constructed an effigy of W which I sent with NAACP strong man Kwambly Mumjumblywumbly to be burned during the ceremony, yet it was only burned off camera, outside the Church.  You can't trust those people to do anything right.

But perhaps we have a conflict in visions.

 it was probably sarcasm)

What, were they going to spend the day discussing her favorite songs?

Speaking of favorite songs, here's PITT'S favorite song, back from when he was glomming on to Mother Sheehan's publicity:

MAKE ME KNOWN, COUNTRY ROAD
Tune: "Take Me Home, Country Roads"

Almost hades, Crawford Texas
Bush Ranch protest, Sheehan doin' talk shows
Press is out there, underneath the tree
Lookin' for some talkers, might as well be me

Country road, make me known
To the place I belong
Guest opinion, TV pundit
Make me known, country road

All my DUmmies rally round me
Mindless, lazy, looking for a leader
Read my bloggings, written on the fly
Boring waste of bandwidth, glazing of the eye

Country road, make me known
To the place I belong
Guest opinion, TV pundit
Make me known, country road

I wear a hat, in the mirror I see Eastwood
The ladies on DU think I'm hot when I pose
But sweatin' in the sun I get the feelin'
That I should have worn some lighter clothes, lighter clothes

Country road, make me known
To the place I belong
Guest opinion, TV pundit
Make me known, country road
Make me known, country road
Make me known, country road . . .
