In the Arab village of Nabi Elias in the Qalqiliya region, unknown culprits wrote 'Mohammed is a pig' on the wall of a mosque, and added the six-pointed Star of David as their signature. This was reported by the KURSOR news agency.

According to witnesses, the graffiti was done on Sunday night. At about 04:30 AM local time on February 12th, a car with Israeli plates drove up the mosque and several men with small aerosol paint cans got out.

Later in the days the writing was removed from the wall of the religious building, with help of soldiers from the Israeli Defense Forces.

Police and representatives of the IDF assume that the authors of the graffiti are the Jewish settlers, but they do not exclude the possibility that profanation of mosque was a provocation by Palestinian extremists.

Meanwhile, a spontaneous protest occurred at the site. Several hundred Palestinians burned car tires and threw rocks at Israeli cars. One Israeli woman was injured, and another four Israelis suffered from shock as a result of attacks by the demonstrators.

Participants in the riots attempted to throw pieces of coal at IDF soldiers, and they answered with gunfire. Three injured Palestinians were brought to a local hospital.

The police promised to investigate incident and to find the culprits.

IDF representatives fear that the provocation could lead to the new protests by the Moslem population of the country.

Caricature war: opinion
The global conflict, which ignited because of images of the prophet Mohammed in European newspapers, is a blasphemy for the Moslems and shows no sign of abating. Was it possible to avoid this explosion of anger and violence? Orientalists, human rights and religious activists give their opinions.

No, you did it on purpose!
I think that it is reasonable to be offended if the offending party did it consciously. To be offended by awkwardness or tactlessness is neither practical nor smart. Cultural differences and traditions should also be remembered.

Short memory, narrow horizon
In Russia the 'caricature war' is commented on superficially and inaccurately. In the liberal media regret prevails about the 'sunset of Europe', while our nationalist-patriotic press shows approval of the Moslems' behavior and complain about the lack of unity among our own Orthodox. .

More miscellaneous Moslem 'fury'. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts (or baby back ribs to ham sandwhiches) that the 'eye witnesses' have paint stains on their clothes.

Muslims riot and kill because of a cartoon that offends mohammed. But their insulting attacks against Christians and Jews are built right into their so-cally 'holy book', the koran.

Christians and Jews are unworthy infidels, who will burn in Hell:

Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0284: - It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah observed: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me, but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire.

Basic Christian tenets of faith are assailed, Christians will be tormented:

5:72, 73 "Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah (Jesus) said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers."

"Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilâh (God-Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them."

A letter written by mohammed himself to the Christians living in Ayla. With an army of 30,000 men mohammed gave the Christians this ultimatum, (submit or die):

"To John ibn Rabah and the Chiefs of Aylah----I will not fight against you until I have written thus unto you. Believe, or else pay tribute. And be obedient unto the Lord and his Prophet, and the messengers of his Prophet. Honor them and clothe them with excellent vestments, not with inferior raiment. Specially clothe Zeid with excellent garments. As long as my messengers are pleased, so likewise am I. Ye know the tribute. If ye desire to have security by sea and by land, obey the Lord and his Apostle, and he will defend you from every claim, whether by Arab or foreigner, saving the claim of the Lord and his Apostle. But if ye oppose and displease them, I will not accept from you a single thing, until I have fought against you and taken captive your little ones and slain the elder.

And so it is, islam hates Christians, Jews and other 'infidels', and this hatred is sealed right into their 'holy book', the koran, and was taught by their "prophet", mohammed. But a Christian draws a negative cartoon about mohammed, now that's worth rioting and killing over.
