Robert Duvall stops by to show support for Ramos, Compean and Hernandez

We got a nice surprise as we started to filter outside to enjoy the balmy evening after a very moving fund raiser dinner for our imprisoned Border Agents Ramos and Compean and Sheriff Gilmer Hernandez when Robert Duvall stopped by to show HIS support for their plight and for securing our southern border.

Mr Duvall was quite gracious in spending his time among the Ramos, Compean and Hernandez supporters as his admirers crowded around him for photos.

It was a nice way to end a very good evening with speeches from Congressman Duncan Hunter, Senator Dana Rohrabacher, Senator Ted Poe and Senator Brian Bilbray - all emphatically in support of our imprisoned Border Agents and Sheriff Hernandez. A collection was taken that garnered around $1600 just from the people attending the event and a check for around $6000 was presented by FAIR president Dan Stein to the wives of the two Border Agents, Monica Ramos and Patty Compean.

Monica Ramos read a very emotional and moving letter to her from Ignacio telling her to be strong. Many sniffles could be heard around the room and somehow Monica showed her strength in being able to read it in front of a room full of supporters without letting her tears stop her. I will have you know that I saw Dana Rohrabacher visibly moved by her letter... you won't see that from very many politicians I can tell you that. Dana Rohrabacher is a stand-up guy as are many of the politicians who have spoken out against this administration for what they have done to our Border Agents and other law enforcement officers who are involved with securing our borders.

This just in... Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) has agreed to co-sponsor HR 563 as a result of the efforts of Rita Bonilla as spokesperson of You Don't Speak for Me and the family of Ignacio Ramos. Yesterday it seemed to no avail when they spoke to his staff but today it seems, their appeals have convinced him to change his position and he has agreed to support this resolution. Congressman Nunes is the FIRST Hispanic House member to support HR 563 to pardon Border Agents Ramos and Compean which we find surprising since Ramos and Compean are Hispanic as well as political prisoners of our Justice Department.

Congressman Nunes plans to make this announcement tonight at the fundraiser for Ramos and Compean being held at the Hold The Feet to The Fire event in Washington, DC at the Phoenix Park Hotel.

“There’s no point in discouraging an officer, because they are mandated to carry a weapon. If they are going to commit an act of passion that is illegal, it’s going to happen with their weapon, so the idea of an extra sentence for “using their weapon” is silly.”

Exactly.
I firmly believe that this came from upstairs to demoralize the border patrol, anyway.

“The sentences were an announcement from the WH to leave the illegals alone!”

We know this, sadly most Americans will never know the villany here.

I am pretty sure this particular conspiracy theory is bunk, and that any failure to secure our borders is more due to general governmental incompetence than any concerted effort.

I also think the fact that so many people believe that there is a secret plot to open our border to mexico and make one big country has made it more difficult to rationall discuss the issues of illegal immigration and employment.

Every man is entitled to one conspiracy in their lifetime
and this is mine. It would take me all afternoon to research and post all Bush has done to promote illegal immigration. Hell, he has made enough speeches slobbering all over the illegals, spreading the lie that they are “doing jobs Americans won’t do” and promoting amnesty.
Border patrol agents have commented on what many illegals say to them when they are caught

“Why you stop me? Mizzer Boosh sez iz okay”

“..since Ramos and Compean are Hispanic as well as political prisoners of our Justice Department. “

MAYBE when Alberto Gonzales is HISTORY, there will FINALLY be a redress of this incredible crucifixion of three decent AMERICANS doing their JOB to stop illegal invaders.

MAYBE once the campaigns start moving, enough Republicans AND Democrats will get off the stick and help sink that AMENSTY bill Bush and Ted Kennedy want so desperately to gt passed.

And Zulu, it’s not just the 3 of them. There’s David Sipe, who’s conviction got overturned....and....I can’t remember the other agent’s name....

>>We found no extreme injustice in the transcripts of the trial.<<

One problem was what was not in the transcripts: The jury members who claimed that some of the other jury members gave false “judge’s instructions” to them. I don’t think this will make a difference in the appeal, but if such skullduggery had sent me to prison for more than 10 years, where I was nearly beaten to death, I don’t think I would call that “justice.”

>>If they want, they can pass legislation which would immunize border patrol agents from the charges that were in the offense — it would apply to EVERY BP agent. They could make it retroactive.<<

That does sound like the best chance for congress to actually accomplish something. However, with the Dems in control, and with Bush and some republicans pandering to the Hispanic vote, I think that would be difficult to pass, let alone override Bush’s (or Giuliani’s or Hillary’s) veto.

FIVE agents get in trouble for enforcing our border laws?

Gonzales should be removed - but ultimately the problem lies above him and we know Bush’s views on this subject.

He and Ted Kennedy are in bed together on this one.

I don’t have any idea. He appears to be a quiet man, keeping his political opinions to himself.
