Read the Pro-American Movie That Got Me Kicked Out of Hollywood

I have a new website and blog and that I think readers of FreeRepublic might be interested in.

It’s called GlobalVillageIdiot.org.

For more than a decade I made my living as a Hollywood screenwriter, until I wrote a politically incorrect screenplay called Global Village Idiot -- a pro-American, anti-environmentalist comedy feature film -- that got me kicked out of Hollywood. After I spent many years in exile away from the movie business, the script won first prize in a contest that was looking for scripts that celebrated traditional American values.

Now I’ve created a website to sell the screenplay.

You can read the story of how I got kicked out of Hollywood, then won the contest here.

And I’ve posted the 1st Act of the screenplay here so can read it yourself for free.

Since the front gates of Hollywood are closed to me now, I’m hoping I can hop the back-lot fence and do end-run around the typical Hollywood gatekeepers of agents and script readers. The web offers direct contact with people both inside and outside the Hollywood mainstream, and I’m hoping to use the web to find a home for the screenplay.

To drive traffic and interest, I’m blogging about the main topic of the script – the idiocy of the environmental movement – and other Anti-Idiotarian topics. My first couple of real posts happen to be about Al Gore, so go here and keep scrolling down.

And please take a look at the screenplay. If you like it and you know someone else who might like it, please send them the link.

Do you have a friend who works in the movie business that would appreciate the script’s message? (Don’t laugh – we’re starting to poke our heads out. ) Do you know someone working for a foundation or institute that’s looking for a pro-American screenplay? Do you know someone in a pro-capitalist environmental group that’s looking for a new way to spread their message? Then send them to the website and let them look around for themselves.

And let me know what you think about the script, yourself. You can leave a comment below, or at my blog.

Thanks!

I liked what I read. It was really funny. I hope you get it produced!

Congratulations on winning that AFR contest.

I attended their weekend program last summer. There were a number of Hollywood producers there open to conservative/libertarian themed screenplays. I even got to pitch one to them.

Perhaps AFR could give you some leads.

And I’ll definitely give it a read — it looks fun.

Best of luck!

Thanks...I intend to get in contact with AFR again, but I wanted to get the blog established, first. Good luck with your own work!

Also, it’s been 3 days since I sent my web address to get listed on Google, but it hasn’t shown up yet. You know Al Gore is a “senior adviser” to Google — you don’t think he “advised” them not to list me, so you?! I beat him up pretty badly on my blog!

It can take a while to get listed on Google.

You might want to try creating a press release — there are a number of free and low cost services out there.

You might want to also mirror your blog on blogger.com, which is owned by Google.

Can I ask how you got the formatting of your screenplay so nice within HTML? What did you use to convert it?

Also, creating lots of good content with help.

There are many wannabe screenplays who would love reading about your adventures.

The previous post should’ve read:

I used brute force.

HTML is so cranky and different browsers display the same code differently, that I just used the space bar to format empty spaces and create the indenting — no tabbing, no indenting button, no tables...just endless, thumbnumbing spacebars to format. It took forever, but I figured I’d only have to do it once.

And thanks for the Blogger tip.
