The initial reports were frightening, the Coast Guard fires shots at a rogue boat in the middle of the Potomac River, just before the President drives by, and right near the Pentagon building on the Anniversary of 9/11.
The follow-up provoked anger---it was just a training mission:

How difficult would it be to call the local media and inform them that an exercise is going to take place?. Worried about them filming it? Then inform them they will be fired upon if the get within a defined are of operation.
I flew out of Reagan at 9:30 this morning. Visibility was very, very limited. Anyone familiar with Coast Guard proceedures? Seems to me they would have cancelled any training exercise.
The fact that they say it doesn’t mean the story is bogus. It just means that they said it as part of a training exercise.
I agree. This was no training mission. They just want to keep us in blinders.
I hate to say it but - good work CNN. Don’t back down. Keep trying to get to the bottom of this. The CG would not be conducting a training mission in the rain and mist over the river on 9/11 just as the Annoited One was due to pass over. What are the odds?
