[I never thought about it before but Meatloaf's political leanings surprises me as well.]

This doesn't surprise me. I heard an interview with him a nmber of years ago, and he's devoted to his family and country.

I don’t know if he gets into politics at all, but Gene Simmons strikes me as a surprisingly conservative guy. Very pro-America, pro-military and pro-personal responsibility. Probably a James Woods libertarian.

It seems to me that people like Downy, Meatloaf, Rourke, Beck, etc. who go through recovery come out the other end conservative and for good reason - they know what faith in a higher power is really about, why principles are important, and how enabling doesn’t help anybody.
