DU for decent and civilized people, 2010 short edition
conservativecave ^ | November 28, 2009 | franksolich

Welcome to the new DU for....., replacing an older edition that first came out in 2008. Given the increasing popularity of P-J Comix's most excellent DUmmie FUnnies, the Best/Worst of DU forum on conservativeunderground, and the DUmpster and DUmping Ground here at conservativecave, it is important that such a guide to watching the DUmmies in DUmmieland be up-to-date in time for the coming mid-term elections.

One supposes the first question is, why bother watching the DUmmies, as compared with watching paint dry or changing the air in the tires on the automobile?

There are several good reasons for watching the DUmmies, the first being that DUmmieland is after all a news message-board, and one is always curious for news.

And then watching the DUmmies, who represent the Democrat party and the liberal viewpoints, gives one an insight in "opposition" research; what the other side is up to. Tied in with this reason for watching the DUmmies is that of "quality controlling" the DUmmies--examining and testing the DUmmies to be sure they are what they allege themselves to be; open-minded, tolerant, socially conscious, honest, respectful of diversity, those sorts of virtues.

For the record, it needs stated that in nearly nine years of the existence of DUmmieland, no DUmmie at any time has ever met, much less exceeded, any standards the DUmmies they themselves have set as being particularly enlightened or illuminating.

Perhaps, however, the most popular reason for watching the DUmmies is simply for sheer entertainment, as DUmmieland can sometime be funnier than the comics-strips in the daily newspaper, or a half-hour television comedy.

For a select minority of DUmmie-watchers, DUmmieland is a rich field for scientific research into matters anthropological, sociological, and psychological.

DUmmieland is after all a news message-board, and one is always curious for news.

I go there quite a bit to keep an eye on the loony bin. There's no actual news over there. You hardly see any real news stories (I have yet to see anything about the Climategate scandal). It's mostly opinion rants about how evil Republicans are, or about how "we're winning", or how Dennis Kucinich is the only politician who actually could make America work (that last one is SCARY - there are usually more positive replies to "DK is our hero" threads than any other). You do see occasional threads about how Don Siegelman got screwed by Karl Rove or other bizarre conspiracy theories.

Tied in with this reason for watching the DUmmies is that of "quality controlling" the DUmmies--examining and testing the DUmmies to be sure they are what they allege themselves to be; open-minded, tolerant, socially conscious, honest, respectful of diversity, those sorts of virtues.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Ha, ha, ha, ha. I can't stop laughing.

And don’t forget Sarah Palin. Despite their continuous ranting how stupid and inneffective she is, and isn’t worth paying attention to, they post thread after thread about her.

There's no actual news over there.

Perhaps I should have used some sort of smiley indicating sarcasm.

I should point out one trick the primitives use to deceive each other.

A primitive will give his own "summary" of a news article, and the link, counting on that all the other primitives will just take his word for it, without checking the link.

It's a very good thing to check the links to news given by the primitives, because of the First Rule of Watching the DUmmies: DUmmies lie, all the time, DUmmies lie.

I discovered this by accident when a primitive blared a headline, PAT BUCHANAN SAYS SLAVERY WAS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO BLACKS, after which the primitive gave his "summary" of what was behind the link.

I clicked the link, finding that neither Pat Buchanan or the news story said any such thing.

Always keep in mind the First Rule of Watching the Primitives: DUmmies lie, all the time, DUmmies lie.

Yeah, someone checked the "Bush/conservatives" forum on Skins's island only yesterday (Friday). Fifteen of the top twenty bonfires there dealt with Sarah Palin.

.....I learn nothing new,.....

Actually, if one has the time and inclination, which I do (due to working at home), as an anthropological study, Skins's island and the primitives are fascinating, awesomely fascinating.

The DUmmies have their sacred cows, their rituals, their tabus, their ceremonial dances.

It's awesome, watching those things.

It's like walking in the footsteps Margaret Mead, watching and evaluating the DUmmies.
