There is no real difference between the 'liberal democrats' of the UK (who, like every other party which tagged 'democrat' to their name ~100 years ago was doing so to differentiate themselves from the Totalitarian Left, like 'hey, it's OK, we're not like Lenin, even though we believe a lot of the same things'. Remember that context when you see 'democrat' in a party name), and the leftist Labor party, and they will together form a leftist government.
They are acting now as if they might help the Conservatives into power: they will NOT. They benefit from acting as if they cover some kind of middle ground but do not.
David Cameron is the biggest fool for acting as if it is possible, and has probably helped the liberals considerably in the next election.

UK is history. Communism does not work. Guess they are going over the cliff. We need to detach fro the New world order or they will drag us with them. Black Monday.
“UK is history”
There is no conservative media in the UK that everyone can access: radio/newspapers. All it takes is 15/20 years like that & the vast majority of people don’t even know what the conservative argument is.
Treasure things like conservative talk radio. And the ability to elect judges & other minor officials.
Labor and Liberal Democrats do not have enough MP’s to form a coalition...need 326 come up twenty short
Almost all of the “other” MPs are natural leftists though, welsh nationalists & etc.
It’s the Labour Party. The Liberal Democrat party only dates from 1988. The Liberal Party merged with the Social Democrat Party, which was founded in 1981 by defectors from the Labour Party who were unhappy with the pro-Communist line of that party.
I listen to the BBC (only English speaking station available where I am) and they are openly rooting for a left coalition BUT they don’t want Gordon Brown to lead it...keep throwing out the possibility that if Labor gets rid of Brown they could form a coalition
This makes sense to me, a conservative/liberal coalition seems like an oxymoron. When you look at this politically, it would make sense that the left leaning Labor Party sides with the Progressive Liberal Party.
I don’t see the downside to this. A new government must institute drastic budget cuts - there are no “ifs and buts”. UK’s budget deficit is one of the largest in Europe. So, imagine Labour (with or without Brown) together with the Liberal Democrats (left and lefter, but I don’t know which is which) trying to agree on severe budget cuts, and getting their constituencies to go along.
Remember, Lab + LibDem does still not get to the magic 326 seats, so they would have to bring on some other coalition partners as well.
I would guess there would be new elections in less than a year, with the two “governing” parties thoroughly discredited, and Conservatives only needing a very small swing to gain majority.
So far, a liberal democrat/labour combine would be short of majority, while a liberal democrat/conservative coalition would have majority. No decisions have been made as far as I can find out.
The Christian Husband Blog actually seems a bit given to hysteria. Are you sure this is an actual newssource??
Chill out nubie! This isn’t Lucianne. We have more than AP/Reuters/CNN/Townhall.com here.
Is your nick a corruption of “hard right”? That might be
the idea they push of FR on Wikipedia, but it’s not a true way to describe a conservative.
“while a liberal democrat/conservative coalition would have majority”
Stop basing your worldview on hope. Get a clear view of these people & how they operate. Britain is screwed. Airy fairy Cameron as PM might make you feel happy for 24 hours but nothing would change for Britain.
Where did the conservative votes go? Stayed at home? Or did they vote for ‘conservative party’?
“Airy Fairy”?
Methinks you read the Guardian too much....
It seems that Cameron’s ties to the rightwing poles has escaped you.
PLJ come to mind? The false attacks made on Cameron and the PLJ?
Being a Homophobe and anti-semetic? How did that come to be?
The Polish president that was just killed in the “accident” what party did he belong to?
There seems to be the frequent use of hyperboles while hyperventilating from a lot of people.
From people I know in the UK (not a scientific poll) - some stayed away disillusioned with the ‘greening’of the conservatives (particularly with their silence on climategate) - some voted UKIP and some threatened to vote BNP. Others voted for the ‘lesser of 3 evils’ the ‘conservative’ party. Nobody was impressed with Cameron as a conservative leader. What I did find that even with the diehard conservative voters, those who follow politics like a football team and would vote CINO - just for their team to win - were not as bullish as before and were looking for alternatives. UKIP (independence party) could have monopolized, they are good on the climate change scam and have an anti- Europe stance but they seem to be soft on terrorism and are not very well organized, although they did get over 1m votes (most of which would probably have gone to the conservative party, had they been more conservative I recon).
I’m sorry you’re still in pre-election McCain-mode over Cameron. You’ll get over it.
The UK is finished. It’s a slow drift to being France from here. The natives will keep aborting their young & disinfecting their ovaries while the muslims have 10 children per family then in 50 years the British will finally wake up when it’s way too late. It’s the curse of being rich.
Would your Cameron allow free political radio in the UK which is the smartest thing Reagan did? No. Would there be any substantive change? No.
My understanding is that the Liberal Democrats are leftists, just like Labour. So an alliance between them would make much more “sense” than a Conservative/Liberal Democrat one.
bye bye UK.
EVEN IF, (big if) the Uk got it’s fiscal house in order they still have a huge contingent of 5th column Islamics that have invaded their country. Plus a huge segment of the population that would be right at home on an episode of Jerry Springer. The UK is done.
