I listen to a lot of classic radio. Often they play the commercials along with the shows. It’s so interesting to hear the ‘medical’ claims for the benefits of smoking this brand or the next, or to hear Jack Webb touting the great taste of Fatima cigarettes in one season, and Chesterfield in another.
I forget the brand, but they had a jingle, “Open a pack, given ‘em a smell, then you’ll smoke ‘em.” Geez...

Funny.
I recall the first time I watched AMC’s MadMen. Pregnant Mrs. Draper was sitting in to doctor’s office. Both Doctor and Mrs. Draper were puffing on cigarettes.
Things have really changed from the 50’s and 60’s.

Love Mad Men! In several episodes, she and her pregnant neighbor (Francine I think?) are smoking and drinking quite a bit!

Hilarious! I am old enough to remember a lot of these but I can’t say I remember a single one. I guess I considered them as being acceptable.

I like when Mrs Draper has her kid on her hip, a cig in hand. Kid coughs and says “Mom it is smoky!”, she says “no it isn't.” nuff said.
Also the “one for the road”! Hilarious!

We should have kept this up. We would have avoided Rachel Maddow, Hillary, and that gaggle of harpies on The View:
