Enough Carly Bashing - Let's Unite to Defeat Boxer
EEE | 09 JUNE 2010 | EEE

Posted on 06/09/2010 8:57:15 PM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

Carly Fiorina wasn't the first choice among many conservatives. She is not as conservative as DeVore and if Campbell hadn't been in the race, then supporting DeVore would have been a no-brainer. I respect DeVore and his service. I never attacked him personally, (unlike those who attacked Carly and ridiculed her as a "dyke" even though she just had breast cancer and lost her hair) and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. He now has name recognition and a platform of support to challenge Diane Feinstein in 2012, for example, and if he does he'll receive my wholehearted support.

But the important thing is, Carly was more conservative than Campbell, who was the ultimate turn-coat RINO and who would have done nothing to advance the conservative agenda. She has millions to compete with Boxer and being a female and cancer survivor also neutralizes whatever attacks Boxer will throw at her. Remember that Boxer completely destroyed two staunch male conservatives before. It's time to unseat her using a different tactic.

Unfortunately, there are FReepers, who are bitter and angry from the DeVore loss, who have stated that it would be better for Boxer to win than to rally behind Carly. This is completely childish and pathetic. First of all, Carly is not a RINO because she has no public office experience to make a RINO assessment on. We're not talking about holding your nose for a Mark Kirk or Mike Castle-type liberal Republican. We're talking about someone who is reasonably conservative on the main issues and who will slow the Obama agenda. With Palin's endorsement, there's less of a chance for her to go Olympia Snowe on us. I trust Palin, and I doubt that Fiorina would be the West Coast version of Snowe.

Second of all Carly has business experience and while FReepers will laugh at her six years at HP the fact of the matter is she still has experience. Prior to becoming HP CEO Carly was vice-president of AT & T, so obviously HP saw something in her. She worked her way up from being a receptionist to leading a major corporation. What did Boxer do, besides live on the government hog most of her life?

Boxer will whine and say that Carly outsourced jobs but Carly can easily counter and say that conditions created by the government (high corporate taxes and regulations) brought about the need to cut jobs.

My point is that Carly won the primary decisively and exit polls showed she attracted both independents and conservatives. She ran a strong center-right campaign and there's no doubt that will carry over into the general election against Boxer. While she's not pure as the driven snow conservative, she is sufficiently conservative to stop the Obama agenda and promote big-picture issues like reining in spending and lowering taxes. So to quote Sheppard Smith: Don't be a hater.

You are absurd. WTH are primaries for?

So now people who wanted DeVore were supporting Boxer because they exercised their right to support and vote for their choice in the primaries.

Just great, sounds like some people around here are getting as kooky as the lefties.

But then ST always likes to start trouble.

Most of us do the same, supporting great conservatives, so you're nothing special in that regard.

Your Hunter worship clouds your judgment big time, your jealousy of Gov Palin and her rise in political power seems mostly due to that, it's a pretty obvious thing in all your posting.

I do have to say though, your honesty about your Hunter obsession is appreciated.

Carly is ‘babs’ with an ‘r’ after her name.

People like you are the reason this country is in such dire shape. You completely ignore the history of this woman and want everyone else to do it too.

She’s a rotten rotten globalist and I expect you must be too, to defend her.

Carly is a global communist

I guess I missed the part where she said, "Workers of the world, unite; to each according to his need, from each according to his means; class struggle; abolish private property and private ownership of the means of production." Maybe there are other kinds of communists that I didn't learn about. Otherwise, by using the word indiscriminately, the word is rendered meaningless.

It reminds me of a thread on here a while back when someone called Jon Kyl a RINO.

“Another Snowe and Collins helps us how?”

That analogy shows you are either uninformed or deliberately spreading disinformantion. Have Snowe or Collins ever been prolife or endorsed by the very prolife Susan B. Anthony list? No. Have Snowe or Collins ever been prosecond amendment or endorsed by the NRA? No. Those two issues alone separate Fiorina completely from them.

Why don’t you make an argument based on facts rather than innuendo?

If you want to support Boxer, Democrat Undergound is a good place to test your wings.

I don't think I can handle another one of these cycles.

Why are all the ninnies on our side?

I was speaking of Carly AND the classless Freepers who made fun of her hair.

As a business person, I think she was an absolute disaster as CEO of HP and got there via affirmative action.

But as a human being, I also think making fun of someones looks, particularly when they are the result of a fierce disease like cancer, is sick.

That being said, I will also say that even if Carly did not deserve the HP job of CEO, she obviously did something worthwhile in the business world to even get the opportunity to rise to her level of incompetence. That's a whole lot more than can be said about Babs.

Principles are fine. They are good. But absolutism can be destructive. Eric Hoffer wrote in The True Believer:

Free men are aware of the imperfection inherent in human affairs, and they are willing to fight and die for that which is not perfect. They know that basic human problems can have no final solutions, that our freedom, justice, equality, etc. are far from absolute, and that the good life is compounded of half measures, compromises, lesser evils, and gropings toward the perfect.

The rejection of approximations and the insistence on absolutes are the manifestation of a nihilism that loathes freedom, tolerance, and equity.

There is never a final victory. There is always as Hoffer writes above. Alexander Hamilton supported his arch-enemy, Thomas Jefferson, after the election of 1800 was tossed into Congress. Why? Because Aaron Burr was worse.

Don’t confuse the more conservative-than-thou’s with that type of common sense.

This is California! we are not going to get a demint from Califnoria, period.

“Enough Carly Bashing - Let’s Unite to Defeat Boxer”

Agreed!! As we should get behind Mrs. Engle in Nevada, Rand Paul, Niki Haley and all the GOP’ers who have won primaries. It’s time to take our country back ASAP!!!

Some of the posters here seem content to run people who have ZERO chance of winning and just say “well they were 99% of what I wanted vs that horrible RINO who only gave me 90%”

These mid terms are crucial if for nothing else, to ensure gridlock in the congress.

It really depends upon the content of the 10% disagreement. There are some principles that cannot be compromised. If your 90%-10% was applied to other areas, like marriage, I would have married another man, but the wrong plumbing is a deal breaker for me.

Jealousy? ROFLMAO.

I’m just so jealous that Oliver North’s War Stories didn’t get the ratings of Desperate Housewives. And I better quit listening to Mozart and get on the Lady Ga Ga bandwagon, she’s like, Oh my Gawd, like so popular now.

And I’ll be darned, I’m turning green with envy knowing that Obama has 9 million Facebook friends and I don’t have any.

I’m not kneepadding anything.

We need to at least get a position where the congress can impose gridlock on this admn and at least possibly maybe force a slightly better pick for the SC when Ginsburg retires.

Just remember that many around here were calling Chris Christie a RINO before his election.

Where are those types now?

It wasn’t DeVore telling the world how proud he’d of been to vote for Sotomayor in the Senate. It was the feminist dingbat.

That’s fine, and I agree with you, I would have voted for Devore myself in the primary, but Fiorina having won, does it really make sense to keep Boxer there and the Dems still control the Senate?
