Todd Palin — the “Good Dad”
US4Palin ^ | Saturday, June 18, 2011 | Missy Stewart

“Todd is a good dad”. Governor Sarah Palin said these words often on the 2008 presidential campaign trail when introducing her four- time Iron Dog champion husband, Todd Mitchell Palin, to cheering audiences. The First Dude, as she affectionately calls him, is deeply committed to his marriage, is fiercely protective of his children, and constantly shows patriotic allegiance not only to his native Alaska, but to America.

Never slothful or lazy, Todd is always by his wife’s side and works hard to provide for his family whether it be on a Bristol Bay salmon run or in the oil fields of Alaska’s North Slope.

He understands that trust between a father and his children generates happiness, hope, confidence, and security.

He strengthens his family by instilling faith and security.

He leads his children – by example – to spend their energy helping others and not just themselves.

He takes great pleasure in his wife’s success and much pride in seeing his children make quality decisions on their own.

As are all “good dads”, Todd is rewarded by the achievements of his children.

The man of integrity walks securely…” Proverbs 10:19

Happy Father’s Day to Todd Palin and all the “Good Dads” across America, including mine.

They really are a great role model for young couples looking to balance work and family, or start a business together.

Wonder if he had any idea that marrying Sarah would be a wild ride. I imagine he did, though this particular ride must seem like a parallel universe existence to him sometimes. I think he, they, have handled the ride amazingly well. HFD to him indeed. This is obviously a puff piece, but I think it’s true just the same.

The picture in post #6 is so dreamy.

And that’s it. I’m signing off for the day and off to dreamland. What a great pic to dream about!

I have to admit that I admire the guy . He’s dealt with the entire situation a lot better than I probably could. He’s made as much of hardened steel as Sarah is.

They both have to be made of steel. The liberals have constantly attacked and tried to destroy Palin and her family. They are role models for our youth.

Strikes me as totally secure in himself and still the man of the house, even if his wife is the national phenom. Very intriguing couple IMO, and I mean that in a good way.

Amazing man IMO. I’d love to see him as the “First Dude”...would be great to have a he-man leading our young boys to be he-boys as we once knew them to be.

I was sitting outside the Mall today and saw a group of teenage boys walk by...they looked like 5 yr.. olds wearing clothes too big for them. No style and no class at all.

Well, he was also gone at least 7 months out of the year. That does take a toll on a family. I not blaming him. People need to do what they can to survive, and there is probably limited job opportunities in Alaska that pay as well.

However, the statistics show that the biggest risk for teenage pregnancy is abusive or absentee fathers. It had to have an effect that he was gone so much.

This year?

I know he has worked away from home for periods in the past, but that’s life, a lot of families live apart due to circumstances. I’m sure like any real family, it’s not all roses, but they seem to have a real respect and closeness.

I’d rather a teen pregnancy to a family that cares for the child than the stories of the Bush girls getting into trouble during that phase.

I agree. Heck, I think my wife of 38 years has had a heckuva ride all things considered, and we’ve had nothing like they’ve endured!

Cheers,
Jim

No, not this year. It was up until she was chosen as McCain's running mate.

You are correct it is life, and it is not all roses. That was my point. There are many families that have to make sacrifices, just look at our military families. I don't blame them for the choices they made, but it does take it's toll. It's not always a perfect balance.

What trouble did the Bush twins get in?

I only remember them trying to order a few drinks at 19 or 20 years old. Sorry, I'll take that any day over my teenage daughter getting knocked up by a complete pig.

My dad travelled for years. Left on Monday and came home on Friday. Had 3 daughters. Nobody got pregnant.

Oh come on. I sure wasn't suggesting that all absent dads have daughters that get pregnant.

I was just stating a well known statistic. Don't kill the messenger.

I don’t think the “absentee father” means a father that travels and returns home, or has regular contact....I believe it means the parents were divorced, or never married, and the father rarely sees or interacts with the child....kind of like widows who have great children...because they reinforce the “presence” of their father....
