I received the following email:
"Hello my name is Kathi. My son has a pit bull that he has left in my care. He leaves for Afganistan on 11/30/11 and from there he will go to Africa to train soldiers with the us army. I am a surgical nurse who works 60-75 hrs per week and the dog has to be crated while I work. I was wondering if your organization could take her and find a loving home for her. I have tried to find a family for her & they hear pit bull & shy away.
Lyric is 3 years old & spayed. She is so loving, she thinks she is a lap dog actually, if she could sit on your lap & you rub her belly she would be in heaven. "
Kathi has given me permission to post this information in hopes of finding a home for Lyric who is NOT dog aggressive and sounds like a great dog. Kathi lives in Westchester County, New York. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.
You can email her at:

Awww, good luck with your search. I would love to have a dog, but I’m in an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs and have 2 insane cats!
How is she with other dogs?
woof, woof
In Kathi’s words:
“The only aggression she has shown was one time towards my daughters papilion. Riley was barking at her trying to be the alpha dog & lyric liked pounced on top of her I think to shut her up. It was quit funny actually, because lyric pays her no mind now & wants to be friends but Riley (papilion) steers clear of her.”
It states she’s not dog aggressive. Not sure if that carries the same weight as “great with other dogs”.
Hope Lyric finds a good home that gives out lots of belly rubs.
Sorry, we’re too far away and have too many fur babies as it is.
Have you tried google?

Good luck...
thank you. I will.
I have posted on my local craigslist-pets, w good results. Just be sure to word the ad in such a way as to discourage those who are looking for pits to fight.
Sure I run a day care center bring her over.
If Michael Vick calls be sure to notify his parole board. Otherwise use a reputable staffordshire terrier rescue organization. And reputable does not include any pet shop or other business that can be described as a puppy mill, that is, one which will sell a staffordshire terrier or any other high maintenance dog to any person, without regard to that person’s motives and commitment to the dog’s well-being. The sad fact is that there are an awful lot of people out there who shouldn’t have any dog, much less a dog that requires a stable environment, lots of hands on training and affection, and a human alpha in control of things. In short, the sicko Michael Vick is the tip of the iceberg where cruelty to animals is the commodity for sale.
I POSTED ALL OVER FACEBOOK FOR HELP
Best luck with your search. You may try and contact the Pit Bull rescue in your area. It has worked for us many times. We are currently searching for a Doberman and Doberman rescue has been very good in placing orphans. The Pit rescue is probably just as devoted.
Our Dobe died in our arms in November. Was worst day of our lives.Looking for a young’un to grow old with us.
thank you
Unfortunately 80% of shelter dogs are pits or pit mixes, and there are just not enough places for them. I do pit rescue and training work which was why she contacted me.
But I thought because of the military connection other avenues would be open to her son.
Mike Vick may be interested.
Posted the info on my Facebook wall, although I don’t know a soul in New York. lol Hope she finds her a new home!
I’m fond of pit bulls (hate that name) - currently have a pit bull mix plus two cats. My dog was raised with cats, loves and protects them, but tends to be dog aggressive. I’d consider another pit bull in a heartbeat if you could demonstrate that the dog is good with cats. I say demonstrate because I recently lost my “best boy” tuxedo cat to a supposedly “cat friendly” dog we were fostering. Killed my Baxter in my bedroom. I swore off grown dogs....I know I can train a puppy correctly, but I admit this situation is one in which I’d like to help.
