I thought it was so heartfelt and truthful, it would be well received here on FR.
I took the liberty of giving it a fitting title.
To depart from a path, don’t you have to first be on it?
What major pieces of legislation would Perry propose that Romney would not?
He’s certainly worked Washington well enough from the Texas end under the “old model.” This is all oversimplified talk.
“Rick Perry Will Not Depart From His Conservative Record or Path”
A great email, thanks for sharing it. I do however hope that when he gets his single digit return in S. Carolina he takes the opportunity to exit the race and endorse the most conservative candidate in it.
If the Repub candidate loses to Obama in November, perhaps Perry can get himself better prepared and run again in ‘16.
Depending upon the competition I would be an early supporter.
Of the remaining field, I think Perry is the best of the bunch, in terms of his ideology and record. I’m glad he is staying in the race, but I think his candidacy is doomed. Even his contemporary in South Carolina, Gov. Nikki Haley, has endorsed Romney.
If he can somehow finish in the top 2 in SC, and then show well in Florida, maybe he can stay in for the southern states.
Otherwise, he will be unable to raise money, and his day as a non-Romney will be over.
It is notable that of the contenders only Mitt refused to sign on to the Susan B. Anthony declaration. So I think we know one.
CW,
I am fine with Rick and would gladly vote for him.
There are no perfect candidates anyway. Zero.
He has a lot to admire and a few decisions that in retrospect were not good.
So did Ronaldus Magnus. I can only hope he learns, as we all must.
I personally think he still has time to continue. This won’t be decided and
locked up until March or April anyway.
I am willing to vote for Rick, Rick, or Newt.
Romney is a turd in the punchbowl.
HuntsRINO - no chance
RuPaul - 2/3 crazy
Flat tax. Question answered.
But proposing legislation is easy.
So, next question. What major piece of legislation (and here I mean TOUGH, groundbreaking legislation, as I suppose you did) could Romney get through Congress with his effete style. Now imagine Perry.
See, it's easy.
“It is notable that of the contenders only Mitt refused to sign on to the Susan B. Anthony declaration.”
Is this a proposed law or what? I googled and could not find it.
“Even his contemporary in South Carolina, Gov. Nikki Haley, has endorsed Romney.”
That doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. Romney is NOT popular in the southern states, including South Carolina, and I think South Carolina voters see that Haley endorsed Romney purely as political payback for his endorsement of her gubernatorial campaign. Therefore, I believe Haley’s Romney endorsement is irrelevant.
Gov. Perry is the only candidate in this race who shares southern values: anti-DC, limited government, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, deeply Christian, pro-military, pro-business and SOUTHERN!
I suppose its not for us who have no heart to judge in that respect, eh? Non-defense of borders is now a conservative tenet?
To depart from a path, dont you have to first be on it?
Gov Perry has used state funds and people ($400 Million) to protect and defend the INTERNATIONAL border with Mexico because the U.S. Federal government has abandoned their sworn obligation to do it. Rick Perry has said he will seal the border, kill off the cartels and NO amnesty. He is the only candidate running for the job who intends to do it and who will do it.

When has he said that? He's talked about enforcing laws and increasing patrols, but he certainly has no intention of physically sealing the border. He also has a record of continuing to ring the dinner bell for more illegals to come to his state.
He's soft at best when it comes to this issue.
. . . so has he backed off on the “have no heart” thingy? The DREAM Act is part of the denigration of border defense after all, and is not compatible.
You can answer your own question by comparing Perry’s jobs plan with Romney’s 59-point plan.
You should have "binged" instead of "googled". I found it in 5 seconds! :)
