CNSNews.com) – Black-on-black violence is a “disease” that deserves a “national investigation,” Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter told a Youth Violence Prevention forum in Washington on Monday.
“It is a disease,” Nutter said. “It’s a rash, and if there were a rash killing a hundred and some odd young people on a daily basis we’d be doing something about it.”
Nutter said tainted food gets more attention than young people killing each other: “If there were five bad bags of spinach on the shelf somewhere, someone would put out a national alert. Every bag would be snatched off the shelves until someone figured out where they came from, what was going on, and there would be a national investigation.”
But, Nutter added, “There is no national investigation about this issue--that black people are killing black people all across the United States of America.”
Nutter noted that homicide is the leading cause of death for black men between the ages of 16 and 34. In Philadelphia last year, 75 percent of the city’s 316 murder victims were black men and 80 percent of the arrests involved black men, he said.

And I imagine Nutter's plan of action will be to complain that Pennsylvania doesn't allow him to pass his pet local gun control laws.
Anyone with a room temperature IQ who has read Lord of the Flies could have (and many did) predict the outcome.
Sorry, Mayor Nutter, doing something about it would be viewed as “profiling”.
Another point not publicized is that nearly all these murders were done with illgally obtained guns.
That’s because bad spinach is fairly uncommon.
What's your solution, Mr. Mayor? More draconian “gun control”? Yeah, and how well the current laws have worked (NOT).
Besides, if you think Obama or Holder would let you go after “their” people, you are sadly mistaken.
Though that would be a very good thing for the Black community and for America, it would not be a good thing for one part of the Black community that exists to maintain that schism.
The schism to which I refer is the split which separates those Blacks who have successfully assimilated into American life (and have enjoyed the fruits of their effort) from those who believe that they must maintain their separateness and refuse to become what they believe are sellouts to their race. That second group is propagandized by the likes of Al, Jesse, Jeremiah Wright, Obama, and thousands of others who make a living misleading them (and leading them into lives of crime and thuggishness and misery and hate).
More media attention for the spinach is predictable and rational.
Your average news consumer is liable to pick up a bag of spinach from the grocery, so he is concerned about this story. That is what makes the spinach news.
Your average news consumer is not likely to be a young black person shot in the inner city, so this story does not concern him directly. Add the fact that this has been going on for decades, and this is not news.
Not to say it is not a societal problem. It may be good public policy to try to do something about inner city crime and violence. But it is not and will not be news.

Well,, if since about 1970, the government took over spinach production with a new system. And after that, spinach was uniformly bad. And everybody knew it was almost guaranteed to make you sick. (except for a small supply of good spinach grown in private gardens)
I suspect we wouldn’t see many stories in the news about spinach.
You see,, we expect spinach to be good.
But seriously, the man has a good point. But it cannot be discussed because all roads lead to DC and to the deliberate destruction of the family.
Throughout history and manifested on every inhabitable continent on Earth:
A tribal culture and society only results in violence and death.
(BTW, socialism/communism is “rationalized” tribalism).
The “cure” to this disease would require the dismantling of the welfare and entitlement system that created this culture of dependency and violence. Let us know when you’re ready to swallow that medicine.
I wish someone had the guts to speak out about disproportionate black-on-white violence.

We know what the cause is. The War on Drugs creating a black market. Thug culture that scorns getting an education and making an honest living.
But Nutter will only blame guns. Which is why he's worse than worthless in fighting the problem.

This is NOT a disease and to call it such, is to say it is not thier own fault. Next they will want SSD, because they can’t work because they have this disease.
They only thing they can do to fix it is to acknowledge, liberal socialism is what got them there, it is time for them to promote individual responsibility.

Nutter actually said this last summer in response to flash mobs (note the hoodie reference!)

Nutter, telling marauding black youths “you have damaged your own race,” imposed a tougher curfew Monday in response to the latest “flash mob” — spontaneous groups of teens who attack people at random on the streets of the city’s tourist and fashionable shopping districts.
“Take those God-darn hoodies down, especially in the summer,” Mr. Nutter, the city’s third black mayor, said in an angry lecture aimed at black teens. “Pull your pants up and buy a belt ‘cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt.”
“If you walk into somebody’s office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won’t hire you? They don’t hire you ‘cause you look like you’re crazy,” the mayor said. “You have damaged your own race.”
