Black college students learning lessons they'd never learn in their classrooms

They attend schools whose faculties hate and fear the free market. They couldn’t wait to run to the polls to vote for “Brother Barack.” Once he was elected all of their troubles would be over and they could join him and his Party in rubbing the “oppressive” White majority’s face in the dirt; or so the Black students at America’s “historical Black colleges” thought.

Like virtually every other group that joined Barack Obama’s coalition and worked to get him elected, Black students at America’s Black colleges – which sport some of the worst graduation rates in the country – have been screwed by their Messiah.

Because the new system of doling out college loans is built on actual credit checks for locatable parents, many Black students are...

It makes sense that credit requirements for student loans are tightening given that student loans are expected to be the next big bubble of defaults. That is, if they aren’t already.

Coach ended with "lesson taught, lesson learned".

That is what you call wishful thinking.

What I think is scary is how much pre civil war black history that has been scrubbed by the liberal establishment, there are a LOT of black role models and patriots, especially in the north that helped to found this country that have been “whitewashed” from history by liberal college professors in an attempt to “play up” the “All Blacks were always victims of Slavery” card and ignore the valiant Black folks who helped found the country and contribute to society before 1860.

If there was a Black who couldn’t be tied to the southern history of slavery pre-1860s and was a free man or woman they didn’t exist according to liberal academia..

Hell they barely even acknowledge Fredrick Douglas or Booker T Washington anymore...

I guess that I am supposed to get all teary eyed be cause people that have no intention of paying back a loan is denied tax payer money.
I am supposed to get all teary eyed over denied college loans to students of self-segregated colleges that regularly go on the mass media and beg for money (usually via tax funded PSAs) because “a (black)mind is a terrible thing to waste”. Now I am supposed to be concerned that these same poor segregated black chilren are being screwed by their messiah? Sorry, but I could not care less.

You are so right. Why would a low-information voter change? They are mired in ignorance. We conservatives have assumed for too long that, if given the facts, peoples’ behaviors will change. For the low information voter (aka Democrats and liberals) that is just not the case. They will continue on their merry way until something truly catastrophic happens. And even after that happens they will probably not be able to put two and two together. They are mired in ignorance, and do not appear to know the way out. This explains why Obama was reelected.

How about this idea: In addition to only giving loans to people who can prove that they don't have a history of not paying them back, let's also not give tuition assistance (including loans and grants) to students unless they can show that (a) they will use those skills IN the country that funded their attainment, and (b) they will earn a degree that is NEEDED in the country today.

This means that foreign nationals are welcome to apply for scholarships (private--they can award what they want to whomever they want), but must agree to remain in America after graduation and work here for a set period of time, and leaving the country is default on their loan, or would trigger a requirement to pay back grants. Sort of like businesses that offer tuition assistance to their employees, but require them to sign employment contracts to guarantee they benefit from the degrees earned with that money.

It would also put a stop to federal funding of Women's Studies degrees and other worthless degrees that don't have any positive impact on our economy. If we *really* wanted to do something about our shortage of scientists and mathematicians, we would fund those students more generously, and make funding far more rare for Lib Arts majors. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with a (real) lib arts degree, just that we have more of them than we need, and not enough chemists at the same time.

The problem for Obama’s fans is that PLUS loans demand proving you have a financial history of actually paying back past loans and don’t have your picture on the wall at your local collection agency.

But, but, but...that is a RAAACISST policy! < /sarc >

It would be nice if one of those lessons was how to show up to class on time.

Black History - how true.

Here in Fayetteville, NC there was a thriving middle class of free black tradesmen and craftsmen close to downtown prior to the Civil War.

Every once in a while the local paper slips up and runs a story about them. Very interesting.

Not that the race baiters care.

Wishful thinking, indeed. The lesson may have been taught but what they learned from it is skewed. They will never believe their Messiah lied to them but that da man, aka honkey Tea Party Republicans, put them down again.

Harriet Tubman, Phyllis Wheatley, Crispus Attucks, Benjamin Benniker (sp.on those names?)! It wasn’t until recently that many black people even knew about them. I’m sure some did. I remember that before Glen Beck’s show was over on “FOX NEWS”, he had stories and pictures of black heroes on one of the episodes. He had invited several black people to be on his show. Almost all of them were completely shocked that they had American heroes and heroines of their color! Many of them were upset that they were never told about them!
