I had a nice classmate named George in kindergarten through high school. We teased him mercilessly, chanting “Georgie, Porgie, Puddin’ & Pie; kissed the girls and made them cry...”

You gotta admire Duchess Kate! She sure knows how to make the Queen happy.

Earlier today the queen visited her new g-grandson for 35 minutes or so. I’ll wager the name George was postulated to Her Majesty and she wholeheartedly approved it. That is probably why it was officially announced today.

The news out of London says the queen is in very good humor today with a broad grin on her face!

Very sensible.

"George" was the name of some pretty good kings (also a few doubtful characters, but that was a long time ago.)

A distinct look backward (and more respectable than the "Merry Monarch" Charles II. They shoulda known they'd have trouble naming him that. William was an old traditional name too.)

Whenever George’s are on the throne, it’s a good time for a revolution.

So. Etymology, of the names.

George is a title of God the Father, it also means “vine dresser.”

Alexander means protector of men.

Louis is the ancient french name for monarchs, literally meaning “famous in war.”

So his name means roughly God the Father, protector of men, famous in War.
