As I said on a recent podcast, the GOP message is going to become "fix" ObamaCare. Here's Marco "Amnesty" Rubio.
"The widespread problems with the ObamaCare website are generating a new backlash in Congress, with Sen. Marco Rubio planning to introduce legislation that would delay the health law's individual mandate until the technical failures are addressed.
The Florida senator discussed the plan Tuesday morning in an interview with Fox News. He said it would be "prudent" to delay the requirement on individuals to buy health insurance -- set to kick in early next year -- until users can consistently access the main website.
"How are you going to go after people next year ... if the thing you're forcing them to buy isn't available to buy?" he asked, saying the site is "not working." "
This was always the problem with the "delay" strategy. Obama needs a delay. Why in the world would you give him what he needs?

Wow, exciting. We are witnesses to the precious birth of a GOPE. Sweet.
The Republican Party is merely the Designated Opposition wing of the Democrat Party. I would like to think that new guys like Cruze and Lee understand but if they did I suspect there would be a replacement for the Republican Party before 2016.
It would be better to give those bureaucrats a generous furlough (but not indefinite), than to keep them on Bummercare. Better to pay them for nothing than for a nuisance, and after all the US gov. DOES own up to this thing as a whole.
yeah... the 2013 (or 2014) Repealed Obamacare Bureaucrat Furlough Act. We should heartily wish that this would be the worst.
You are right which is why the Republicans want to delay implementation and do whatever else seems necessary to make it a success.
And it would actually make a nice precedent for downsizing government as a whole. OK, you have to bribe the bureaucrats to do it, but then you get a government that, at the least, is less busy doing COUNTER productive things.
I think you assume this without knowing all the possibilities. Timing can work to the GOP advantage too, if it brings moments of severe truth closer before elections.
A delay gives the new bureaucrats more time to get their chairs broken in and for the cement to harden.
Rubio keeps digging his own political grave.
By that time the election won’t mean much, no matter who wins it. Obamacare is CONTROL. However is in power in Washington will be loath to give up that control. Some may fight tooth and nail to prevent it but once it is established they will fight to keep it and use it to their advantage.
End Game = Single Payer + VAT
Succinct yet comprehensive summary of our current political situation. I like it
The only value of this is it would make Dem Senators squirm about how to vote on it, particularly if they’re up for re-election.
Harry Reid will never let it come to the floor so all is moot.
Exactly. They weren't willing to negotiate for a delay while we were on the brink. Screw them. Let them wallow in it.
What Rubio did is smart. Obama can’t say the delay was his idea, and that the evil Republicans are the problem. It puts Obama in a bind....either go along with Rubio’s bill or stick with the mess he has.
I'm OK. I got medicare. Only Obama wanted Obamacare. Republicans opposed it and Democrats wanted single payer. Since the GOP has no plan, single payer is next. How the stupid party loses by winning.
Hasta la vista Marco...
I’m a firm believer in “Give them what they demand...Good and hard!”
Actually doing away with it is secondary. In fact, if they could run against Obamacare indefinitely they'd happily do so while the hoi polloi have to live with it indefinitely.
They've been doing the same thing with other conservative hot button issues for years, yet when have we ever won one?
The GOP doesn't want to solve problems, they want them around to run against them.
