Beretta doesnt bluff: Moving production to Tennessee
Beretta told Marylands state legislature that passage of anti-gun bills early last year would force the company to re-think their plans for growth and expansion in Governor Martin OMalleys state. Berettas dont bluff, the Old Line State lawmakers were told.
The legislature passed a whole new raft of gun restrictions anyway.
Well, not only did Beretta cancel plans for growth and expansion in anti-gun Maryland, they announced their intention to move the whole kit and caboodle to Tennessee later this year.
(The Tennesseean) Beretta, one of the worlds leading gun manufacturers, will be moving manufacturing operations to Gallatin, bringing more than 300 jobs to the region.
The company will invest upwards of $45 million to bring a manufacturing and research and development facility to Middle Tennessee, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam announced Wednesday morning.
The company is expected to complete construction on the facility this year and will make firearms at the new Gallatin plant for both their sporting and tactical product lines.
While Gallatin has added 350 jobs in the past year through expansion of existing employers, such as The Gap and ABC Fuels Group, this represents a major new corporate player in Gallatin, officials said.
Berettas move follows Magpuls decision to bail on Colorado, taking their manufacturing jobs to Wyoming and their corporate headquarters to Texas.
A number of smaller companies have made similar moves since early 2013.
Illinois legislators would be wise to consider the implications of passing further strict gun controls, including gun and magazine bans, lest precious, good-paying jobs flee the Prairie State for greener pastures and prairies.
I have a 92FS. My better half loves the way the pistol handles and loves to shoot it.
I wish I had a backyard like this guy.
Good video here:

My first pistol was the 92FS that I bought used in the ‘90s. It still shoots accurate today.
We need a divorce. Unfortunately, the left is like that wife that insists you do things her way, support her spending habits, and threatens you with terrible legal and financial consequences if you try to leave.
Being in the tax department of a Fortune 500 company I happen to know that TN offers very attractive incentives to go there.
MD is stupid...but for liberals that goes without saying.
Nuts...northeast Tennessee could use the jobs.
The M9 is the US Military designation for the Beretta 92FS pistol. This semi-automatic weapon features a 15-round magazine. The M9 is carried by many US Special Operations Forces (SOF) including the Rangers, Special Forces, AFSOC Combat Controllers and MARSOC Marines. Depending on preference / requirements, an operator may instead choose to carry a Sig Sauer P226, P228 or a Glock 17 / 19.
An upgraded variant, the M9A1, features a Picatinny accessories rail, beveled magazine well and PVD-coated magazines.

A slight correction. I have read several articles about the new Beretta plant and this is the only one that says that they are moving operations from Maryland to Tennessee. I think that they are just expanding and it made more economic and political sense to locate in Tennessee than to expand the Maryland plant.
I know that Navy Seals carry the SIG P226 but Beretta gets some promo in film recently.

AS IF!
As with so many states, it’s the legislators/voters in heavily populated cities that call the shots. Somehow, I don’t see Chicago legislators being swayed by the loss of business/jobs downstate vs. strict gun control.
All the more reason for America to be unified in thought and purpose en masse.
While I tend to agree with you, keep in mind what they can and would do without using physical force.
Freezing or seizing assets of an organization for one. There will always be a weak link, in this case the banks that the organization has to deal with. In the end if the Feds tell the banks that an organization can't have access to their funds rest assured the banks will go out of their way to cooperate. Unless everybody in the chain is on board I fear it wouldn't work.
“Beretta spokesman Ryan Muety said Wednesday that the company plans to continue operations in Maryland and use the new factory for production expansion.
But the decision to open a facility in another state has some Maryland lawmakers worried that this could signal the beginning of the end of the companys decades-long presence in the state.
I fear this is a part of Berettas long-term strategy to move their business and move to a state that has a fairer tax climate and fairer laws when it comes to firearms, said Maryland House Minority Leader Nicholaus R. Kipke, Anne Arundel Republican.
Beretta employs some 400 workers and expects to create another 300 jobs at its Tennessee plant, which is slated for completion by the end of the year.”
“On Wednesday, the company announced it had followed through on those plans and would build a new research and development plant in Gallatin, a town of about 30,000 people north east of Nashville. It will be the first U.S. Beretta manufacturing plant outside of Maryland.

“Franco Gussalli Beretta, the family-owned company’s executive vice president, said in a speech that Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam personally visited with him and his family to persuade them to move there. “

(through tears) ... yeah ... I know.
I love it when gun grabbers get that “Oh SH!T” look on their faces when they realize the full ramifications of their actions.
Hillary's old and unhealthy, so we'll see if she can even be dragged across the finish line. An O'Mally/Fauxcohontas ticket would be a dream come true. For us.

” Chicago pension funds last week sold off their investments in gun companies such as Sturm Ruger and Co., Inc. Last year, driven by election year fears, that company reported an earnings rise of 80 percent for the previous two quarters, with stock hitting an all-time high of $50.59 per share. This week, (1-29), the stock hit $52 per share.
The city also sold off its shares of Smith and Wesson Holding Corporation, which reported record earnings late last year, a 17-fold increase over the prior year.
The city, as a fiduciary, has a duty to maximize the return on its pension fund investments and invest prudently to ensure sufficient funding to pay pension benefits. The city breached that duty by selling off productive investments.”

I love Beretta, both as a weapon and as a company!
I’ve wondered why the governors and legislatures in the states thhrough which the Keystone pipeline don’t just work together to get it built.
They can work out their own deal with each other and Canada. They do that and exactly what can Obama do to stop it? Far to often states kowtow to the feds when they don’t have to.
Same goes for coal-fired power plants. Exactly how would the government prevent the state from permitting them to reopen?
“they announced their intention to move the whole kit and caboodle to Tennessee later this year”
No other media site is reporting such a complete move. All other media sites are reporting that Beretta has run out of capacity in Maryland and won’t be expanding there any longer, electing to build their newest factory and research center in Tennessee.
While this COULD be a prelude to an actual shrinking of their Maryland presence, there’s been no actual announcement, and most likely if such shrinkage occurs it will be done slowly and quietly. It costs WAY too much money to make such moves precipitously.
