Donnie Dunagan became the youngest-ever US Marine Corps drill instructor in 1952 and consequently completed three tours in the Vietnam where he received, in his words, holes that god did not give me.
What most people do not know is, among his three purple hearts and Bronze Star history, Dunagan is the famous voice of Bambi; the nasally little fawn on shaky legs that we all know, hold dear and often make reference to when referring to innocence on a grand scale.
Dunagan held this secret closely during his tenure as a tough and seasoned drill sergeant, but has always held the memory with great pride. Listen to the story from Dunagan himself here.

Well, of course! He became prince of the forest, didn’t he? Tough guy!

Instead of “You shot Bambi!”, the VC were saying: “Bambi shot ME!”

The pic shows him as a captain and he retired as a major. If I remember correctly, he received a battlefield commission.

That old-school, hand drawn Disney animation has a beauty and class that modern CGI does not capture.

I just saw SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water. You've touched on the one redeeming value that movie has: hand drawn animation. What those drawings depicted was utterly worthless, but it did so with the warmth & comfort of each frame drawn by hand.
