The dilapidated Oakland warehouse became a deathtrap for dozens of innocent young people due to govt negligence.

The Mayor of Oakland warns against ‘scapegoating’. He signed off on city budgets that included lavish salaries for Oakland govt employees who failed to inspect the warehouse in 30 years.

The Oakland govt employee shirked their duties as they pocketed tax dollars.....salaries, perks, pensions, expenses...and drove around in govt vehicles at taxpayers' expense.

The dilapidated Oakland warehouse became a deathtrap for dozens of innocent young people due to their negligence.

===========================================

PRESIDENT TRUMP AND AG SESSIONS SHOULD TAKE NOTE:

The 1980 Georgia General Assembly was concerned about “the increasing sophistication of various criminal elements in state and local government,” So the state adopted the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), patterned after a similar federal law.

RICO is often used to try to prove that a legal business was being used for illegal means, and, in the beginning, was used to prosecute drug traffickers or organized crime members.

But in recent years prosecutors have applied RICO to government officials accused of using their govt offices for personal gain. (At the time the measure became Georgia law, this involved some 27 various former and current Atlanta public school officials ho are now in jail under the RICO law.).

To bring a case under Georgia’s RICO law, there must be at least two underlying felonies — such as fraud, bribery, witness tampering (among others). RICO allows prosecutors to include multiple defendants charged with various crimes in the self-same indictment, and to charge that they were allegedly part of an ongoing criminal enterprise.

“The NFPA and Uniform Fire and Building codes are recognized nation wide and to my knowledge have been strictly enforced in CA for many years, at least by non corrupt city and county fire departments.

There’s much blame for everyone involved in this and no doubt there’ll be lawsuits, criminal charges are warranted in my view but probably won’t happen.”

For over 20 years, I have served as board member and officer, of a non-profit which provides meeting space.

We have always made health and safety number one priority.

We get our annual fire department inspections, for example. If they say something needs attention, we deal with it.

I do NOT like a totalitarian government, BUT we pay them to help with public safety.

A reasonable person entering a public place has an expectation they are NOT entering a fire trap.

The mayor, department heads and fire chief in Oakland are paid HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars. And they have VERY plush retirement circumstances.

Citizen/taxpayers of Oakland are very poorly served, when they expose the city to negligence lawsuits.

I would LOVE a successful lawsuit against a municipality for negligence in public safety matters.

The city is going to make a massive settlement but it doesn’t really matter because that’s other people’s money.

Mayor of Oakland has a job that seems to require nothing.

Is the Mayor in charge of city oversight? Police, Fire, Codes Enforcement?

Do they collect tax for said enforcement? No enforcement, no tax.

If the people of Oakland are being taxed for nothing, just admit it.

I know several inspectors here in Chicagoland (not just in Chicago, but in some of the ‘burbs) who make over $300k a year before bennies. Their spouses and kids are almost always employed by the city or ‘burbs as well.

People always think that as an owner of a company, I make a good buck. I lament and think I should have went into government.

And BTW, most of these inspectors are just morons, and they also make a pretty good living from cash “donations” on job site.

Contracting doesn’t pay what it used too... but government? Man, if I could do it all over again.

People paying taxes to Oakland are paying for city government from the Mayor on down for services and it’s plain to see those taxpayers are not getting those services. Lack of those services have just cost the lives of those 36 people.

In California, Liberal politicians were spawned in the Twilight Zone of insanity where corruption, theft, and their personal quest for power is part of their genetic makeup. Likewise, 90% of Liberal politicians all over the country should be investigated for using their offices to steal from the taxpayers in each of their respective states.

Political office has become a way for Liberals and RINOs to steal from the American taxpayers, IMO.

This is why “drain the Swamp” has become the chant of the American taxpayer.

The Clintons swilled at the govt trough for thirty years.

If the Clintons want to save the world, let 'em join the Salvation Army.

My humor was a mental image of Trump roundly going down a very long list and daily headlines of

“YOU’RE FIRED!”

It was a very pleasing, fleeting fantasy...
