California gained an embassy in Russia last weekend, at least in the eyes of those who have promised to seek a statewide vote on secession, nicknamed "Calexit," in 2018.

Louis Marinelli, a San Diego resident who is the leader of the group promoting an effort to turn the state into an independent country , organized the Moscow event that was publicized on social media.

"We want to start laying the groundwork for a dialogue about an independent California joining the United Nations now," he said in an email Monday.

Marinelli is currently working as an English teacher in Russia, and said he is there working on immigration issues related to his wife, who is a Russian national....

They dont get their water from Lake Mead. They get it from Lake Havasu and below..if thats what you mean.

They do get the majority of power from the Hoover Dam. Matter of fact, the LA area gets more than the whole state of AZ does. If I remember right.

When California goes, give them Las Vegas. The rest of Nevada can join the new State of Jefferson.

Right about down the San Andreas fault. That could be the border.

Where do you think Lake Havasu gets its water?

Thats not the point. The point is that the Colorado River water for California is drawn out of just above the Parker Dam.

Close the water off at the Hoover Dam and you close it off for AZ also.

But, I can go for shutting down the generators at the Hoover and cutting the Power for Kalifornia.

Besides that...you are about to argue with someone who lives along that river system.

I thought at Hoover there are two release points Arizona and Cal and you can shut one and not the other or adjust one and not the other.

No. Az gets some from above the Hoover, but the majority comes from just above the Parker Dam that creates Lake Havasu. Both AZ and CA draw from that point. One side going to CA, and the other to Phoenix and that area. Take a look at your atlas. The Cal border is just Below Laughlin NV and Bullhead City AZ. Actually, Colorado and AZ hold the most miles the River runs thru.

But, CA gets about 70% of the power from the Hoover Dam..if I remember right. So..they could shut down about 70% of the generation from the Hoover and finally start filling Lake Mead back up...which is about to happen if you know how low Mead is. Funny thing is..they are looking to curtail sending power to AZ in favor of California.

And you know what we in AZ say about that right? The word starts with an “F” and the last word is “You”.

They get a significant amount of the power produced by Palo Verde, too.

Thanx. I took the tour and it was explained the way I said. Then we were shown where water was released in both directions. That’s all I know. I accept your explanation in the absence of further knowledge on my part.

If you are talking about the Hoover. One side is AZ and the other is NV.

Las Vegas takes about all its water from Lake Mead. And with the FEDS contaminating the river system at that mine in CO. The people in Las Vegas dont have to use meth any longer to get their highs from chemicals. Juss Joking..somewhat.

I was tryig to get to the BR site but it wont load. So here is Wikies site.

Go ahead, add up the amount of power CA gets from the hoover dam. Money talks and Bullcrap walks and CA somehow got the majority of the power that dam creates. But, it was built in the 30s.

Then you should know what Kingman did with its water rights to that river, right?

See how they like it when the sluice-gates at Hoover Dam close.

There is another easier solution. The Raker Act of 1913 signed by President Wilson allowed San Francisco to lease Hetch Hetchy land in Yosemite, and build a dam. San Francisco violated the terms of the Raker Act, by selling off hydro power to PG&E which profits from it. President Trump can issue an executive order to rescind the Raker Act, because San Francisco violated the terms of the lease. Yosemite is federal land. The feds can turn off the water spigot, depriving San Francisco and surrounding towns of water and electricity, until further notice.

Will California extend the same courtesies to counties or city in California that was to split off from the state and stay part of the US?.

I mean during the Civil War the state of Virginia had West Virginia split off from the state of Virginia and stay part of the Union

Really we could let California leave as long that areas of the state that wants to stay part of the US can stay

Then all we likely lose is LA and San Francisco.. they they can become their own little city-states third world shithole ghettos
