...not just be dependent on the federal government.”

You mean their fellow citizens.

There are too many on welfare who are leeching off the system.

But there are also many who want to work, who simply have NO work to be found at all.

This is what the policies of the past quarter century have brought us to. Record unemployment bringing too many onto the public dole. Nobody can tell me that this was unintentional.

Hoping and praying that things will be changing soon.

“We want these individuals to get a good job and live the American dream, not just be dependent on the federal government.”

So do I but you can’t raise a family on $10 an hour and that is the kind of jobs that we have now. You can’t even raise a family on $20 an hour.

I’m against the perpetual dole but we have this all or nothing thing going. If we don’t have decent jobs that can provide a living wage for honest work we have failed. I don’t mind a hand up for people who are working but I am all against perpetual handouts for able people. I see lots of trash and things that need done to help out the rest of us while we help others who are at least doing something.

They should probably all move to CA where the teat is expanding and still flowing.

Participants would continue to receive the taxpayer-funded benefits only if they worked 20 hours per week or attended an approved job training program.

Need to show all statistics related to public assistance to assess how effective this was. In other states that have done this, the social workers just farmed the welfare queens/kings out to other programs, many went to disability. There was no net change, and none of them suddenly “got jobs”.

Approximately 41,000 Missouri residents no longer have access to the welfare food stamps program after a new time limit law went into effect in 2015.

I'm betting 41,000 Missouri residents will 'discover' they're 'disabled' tomorrow morning...

“limited food stamps for able-bodies and childless adults”

so it does nothing to stop the teens/20+ yr old women who foolishly get themselves pregnant then cannot provide for their child and the ones that come after.

May sound heartless, but women or men raising a child or more alone should not get many perks from the state or fed. Plenty of other ways for them to have help til they get earning income or increase their income.

GOOD!

My old tagline was....

“Welfare was never meant to be a career choice”

And it wasn’t.

The whole thing needs to be scrapped and let the churches do their job of helping the poor. Makes them accountable as well.

Except for the fact that Bill Clinton did something similar, that would be downright racist - that and the fact that there are more Whites on welfare than Blacks....

We’re about to witness the truth that there are jobs Americans will do which the illegal aliens are now doing. Once the pay to stay home is eliminated, the jobs become a lot more appealing.

It is absolutely disgraceful that Obama rolled back all welfare reforms that were put into place in the 90’s.

Attention, all you lazy able-bodied generational welfare cheats: your days of sitting on your @sses watching The View and OWN all day are OVER. Get off your sorry @sses and quit leeching off we who get up at 4 am every morning to go to work. I’m done paying for your illegitimate babies, French manicures, and big screen TVs.
