ESPN gets itself sued by not knowing the difference between ‘guerrilla’ and ‘gorilla’

Racism everywhere!

You already know that ESPN has fallen very far, from its heyday as the global leader in sports programming to its current pathetic state as a pusher of left-wing social sensibilities that uses sports a foil. ESPN celebrates on-air personalities like Tony Kornheiser, Michael Wilbon and Stephen A. Smith for their courageous liberal pronouncements. (For the record, I love Smith . . . but he is what he is.) ESPN fires conservatives like Curt Schilling who express their opinions, even when they do so off the air and completely apart from their role on ESPN.

Says a lot about the level of intelligence among the viewers.

Yep I heard about this. ESPN fired somebody who said a black girl tennis player used guerilla tactics in her game. The liberals at ESPN thought he implied she was a gorilla, which is horrific to them since the player in question is black. So to show they have zero tolerance for racism and all that, they fired the guy.

He’s got two major problems with this suit:
1 - The sentence doesn’t actually make sense with guerilla, sneaky hit and run fighters don’t generally charge much of anything
2 - Doesn’t really matter what he meant, the public reaction was poor and in the end these folks are paid to not irritate the public

I hope Adler wins so much money from ESPN that it has to shut down, like Gawker had to after it got its head handed to it in the Hulk Hogan suit.

Works for me. The penalty for being weapon’s grade stupid should be steep.

Working for ESPN must be like Winston Smith working at the Ministry of Truth. I wonder if co-workers at ESPN pass messages on little pieces of paper if they go against the ESPN party line?

The sentence doesn’t actually make sense with guerilla...

It does; in the sense that employing guerrilla tactics is employing an unconventional, unanticipated, asymmetric strategy against a stronger opponent.

This is why I expect ESPN John Skipper to be fired within the next year. The financial death spiral of ESPN and now this lawsuit may be too much for the upper management at the Walt Disney Company.

Here is the video:

go·ril·la ɡəˈrilə/
noun
a powerfully built great ape with a large head and short neck, found in the forests of central Africa. It is the largest living primate.

guer·ril·la ɡəˈrilə/
noun
a member of a small independent group taking part in irregular fighting, typically against larger regular forces.

I am not quite sure how one explains that Williams is like a member on independent group that is fighting against larger regular forces.

Boss! Stay on the path.

There’s guerrillas in these woods.

Too cool!

- There are no gorillas here.

- Yeah, there is.

Sorry, gorillas are native

to Equatorial Africa.

No gorillas. Not here. No way.

Honey, stay on the path, OK?
“Stay in the path, Boss!

There’s gorillas in the woods.”

- Martin and I used to go dancing.

- It shows.

If there’s one single gorilla

around here, I’ll eat it.

(SCREECHING)

Gorillas. Right.

He could have said “revolutionaries”,

“freedom fighters”. No.

“Gorillas”. He did it on purpose.

You can see it in his eyes...eye.

- Martin, he’ll hear you!

- Let him hear me.

- He did convince them to let you go.

- Sorry. A true humanitarian.

Except of course her tactics weren’t unconventional (charging the net is pretty normal), or unanticipated (it’s how Venus plays), and she was the stronger player. Just as I said, the sentence makes no sense with guerilla.

It does, but it has never applied to a dramatically stronger opponent charging the net. Venus has never played guerilla tennis.

Or pretending not to.

The “progressives” think he said “gorilla” because that is what they would say. THAT IS HOW PROGRESSIVES VIEW BLACKS.

The phrase used was “guerrilla tactics”. That phrase has nothing at all to do with primates.
