Even Democrats aren’t stupid enough to let someone like Ellison become their official spokesman, and the “face” of the slowly-reconstituting Party, though I was hoping it would happen. Another thread on FR right now, tells us that Perez, the one they did choose, has vowed to be “Trump’s worst nightmare”.
Does that make Alan Dershowitz a racist? Johhny Cochrane must be spinning in his grave. If the chairman is black, you must not attack.

220 votes were required to win.
Perez got 213.5 votes on the first ballot.

213.5 minus 200 comes to 13.5.
Unless maybe you are using Common Core math?
When Perez supporters gathered at a party at the Westin Hotel in downtown Atlanta on Friday night, they thought they had about 220 votes, which would have given them a majority.
Instead, they clocked in at 213.5 in the first round – some Democrats abroad and from the territories only get half votes – with eight DNC members abstaining. That left the door open for Ellison, who was only 13 votes behind.
