You've got a gun to your head. Your heart is racing. Everything hinges upon a single moment of action and reaction. Compliance is no guarantee of survival. You have a window, a moment in time, an instance to act your confidence is shaky, youve entered paralysis by analysis a million thoughts go through your head. Youve lost control.
In this demonstration, Ryan Hoover a Krav Maga instructor candidly explains the reason why there are endless disarming techniques. In short, its to sell more courses. More classes. More DVDs. Its meant to make you feel like a commando ninja without actually improving your chances at survival. This is the great deception in the world of disarming techniques.
Let's be real. You do not have an eternity to come up with all the what ifs and have an answer to each and every one of them. This is the inherent problem with collecting techniques rather than skill building and focusing on acquiring time tested principles. Watch good disarms principles here.
You can’t beat the 5 finger exploding heart death punch for disarming an opponent.
LOL well done!

You’ve got a gun to your head....you have tow options as I see it.
1) die at the discretion of the perp.
2) take your chances with something...anything.
Being shot in the head without making any sort of attempt at escape feels like a waste. If I’m going to die by homicide, it isn’t going be be on my knees
Now, im gonna rent it and watch for the umpteenth time...
bttt
“You’ve got a gun . . “
Yep. Always handy.
My DIL’s brother had a gun put to his head and by the grace of God his knees collapsed just as the guy pulled the trigger and shot and killed his own friend.
It has some funny moments. One of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies.
Depends on the situation.
It is always so courteous of these assailants to hold the gun just right in these videos. Fully extended arm. One handed. Never a weaver stance or where you can’t grab the gun. Best chance in this situation, give the guy your wallet. By the time you notice someone already has a gun pointes at you it os too late to do anything about it. All the keyboard Chuck Norris commandos can laugh at me while fantasizing about magically disarming a thug. Even with a carry can you really out draw someone who already has a gun jammed in your face?
Funny thing is, most videos I've seen of armed robberies/muggings almost invariably have the assailant doing these very things. My take is that they're expecting to receive whatever it is they're asking for, and using their free hand to take what you're expected to hand them. Plus, it's gangsta cool to go in with one hand.
I don't think I've ever seen a video where the assailant actually uses both hands to hold the gun (unless it's a shotgun/rifle).
You are right, though. Someone with real training would be hard to beat.
Agree with IYAS9YAS. Fortunately the level of stupidity on the street is extreme. And if someone gets close I can take the weapon very consistently.
We practice with paintball guns on occasion. 6 inch welt and nasty bruise is the price for screwing up. Usually rubber weapons though.
Against someone with common sense that stands back - you’re pretty much hosed (rushing them sometimes works). Against an idiot that gets close and is running his mouth? Very doable.
Ryan Hoover is a great instructor BTW. I review all his videos.
Works every time!
Absolutely!
As a high school teacher, I’ve broken up several fights by demanding, “What’s your favorite breakfast cereal, Lucky Charms or Captain Crunch?” By the time they get past the “whaa.?” I’ve separated them.
Now, no handguns involved...
