Requirement for dietary carbohydrate is zero.
Body and brain run best on ketones with a small amount of glucose which is derived intrinsically.

Ketogenic diets are designed to control insulin. You won’t be able to burn any or much stored fat in the presence of high insulin. Dr. Joseph Kraft designed the 4-hr insulin assay and found 75% of adults are diabetic (abnormal insulin response) even if fasting blood sugar is ok.

Chronically high insulin and insulin resistance is associated with most chronic diseases including cancer and heart disease.

Controlling insulin is best using high fat low carb diet along with intermittent fasting. See Drs. Jason Fung, Jeff Volek, Tim Noakes, Dom D’Agostino etc.

Original Atkins was too high in protein (some insulin response) and “bad” fats.

Thanks for the post.

Agreed. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.

I started low carb 14 years ago and moved to cyclical fasting. Only carbs are greens now. I have also started using a mix of MCTs and Inulin daily. People are going to find out that healthy gut microbiome is critical and is part of a nexus with the brain. Avoidance of processed carbohydrates is necessary for maintaining that bacteria.
