The Problem with Blackness
Bogus Times ^ | 9/3/17 | Kim Parkhurst

On February 6, 2012, a teenager walking home with a pack of skittles through a quiet, middle-class Florida neighborhood was shot dead. The riots and outrage that followed brought the issue of race to the forefront and, from the Rose Garden, the President spoke to an embattled nation. “You know,” he said, “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

The shooting death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of the neighborhood watch shooter that followed in July of 2013 came under public scrutiny. Black America was up in arms over what they perceived as a national atrocity. Had it been a white, Latino or Asian kid, it would have been business as usual. But Trayvon was different; he was one of their own and they saw nothing beyond his dark brown skin. It didn’t matter that it was within his control to end the altercation peacefully. It didn’t matter that race was not a factor in the jurors’ decision. It didn’t matter that it was a Latino, not a white man, who ended Trayvon’s life. Nor did it matter that stores were being vandalized and rioters were closing down freeways.

All that mattered was a black youth was dead and come hell or high water the piper had to be paid.

Zimmerman did not stalk Trayvon. He kept him in sight. Neighborhood guards do that. Neighborhood dads out for a walk do that when they see someone who does not fit int he neighborhood at night.Zimmerman was ambushed. Were there no gun in his belt he would be dead with a fractured skull. Had he not grabbed his gun when he did he would have been shot to death. Trayvon, sitting on him, felt the gun and went for it.

Nope. Just Nope.

You start off with a blatant untruth and everything else can be discounted.

You are wrong. p>He was never told by police to "mind his own business". As for "stalking", Z man followed a person who he believed was breaking into homes in his community, and strived to keep in contact until police arrived. Turns out the thug WAS breaking into houses. Big surprise.

Did we read entirely different accounts of this event?

"...The police officer on the phone told him to return to his car,..."

Jeez, for the millionth time, it was a low-paid dispatcher on the phone with Z man, not a police officer. Her words did not have the force of law.

What is your point? The police dispatcher told Zimmerman that officers were coming to the scene and that he should return to his car. Zimmerman was doing so. Trayvon Martin reversed course, followed Zimmerman and assaulted him. This is not difficult to understand. Zimmerman shot in self-defense.
