What Trump's NFL, Curry remarks should signal to his base (The Left takes the bait)
CNN Opinion ^ | September 23, 2017 | Professor Julian Zelizer, Political Analyst

Posted on 09/23/2017 4:08:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

President Donald Trump is going to war with some high-profile African-American athletes who have political thoughts on their minds. The President said that fans should walk out when NFL players like Colin Kaepernick take a knee during the national anthem to protest our nation's inadequate response to racial inequities.

After the NBA superstar Stephen Curry told the media that he did not want to go to the White House to be honored by Trump, the President decided to take time from his busy day to tweet a withdrawal of the invitation.

It would be easy to see this as just one more trivial story about an immature president who watches too much television and has no control over his rhetorical impulses.

But it's much worse than that. Trump's desire to go after an African-American athlete who has been protesting our well-documented problems with race and criminal justice, or an African-American athlete who does not feel comfortable in the White House given the President's controversial positions on social issues, fit into a longer and troubling history of his capitalizing on the politics of racial division.....

They fired the first shot, but now Trump will make everyone choose a side.

Sucks to be them.

If you have no real abilities, you can become a liberal professor or actor and fool others with lesser abilities.

These losers are more than welcome to ‘protest’ on their own time with their own dime. When the owners allow this crap on company time they are complicit, and are also responsible for the coming backlash from patriotic Americans.

“Professor Julian Zelizer”

Maybe he should exercise his ‘right of return’.

Kaepernick, Curry, Lynch and James can say whatever they want to say.

However, it will be the fans and the crowd who will react and respond.

Look there is a culture war going on.

If you look at the ideals of say a cub scout, boy scout, girl scout from say the 1950’s-60’s and compare those to current liberal, democratic party, black activist, you will see a huge disconnect.

Trump was elected to change the status quo. Many loved his plan speaking and dislike for political correctness. He was elected to lead and inspire a counterattack within the culture war raging in America.

“What Trump’s NFL, Curry remarks should signal to his base”

That they made the right decision when they voted for him.

... well-documented problems with race and criminal justice...

Like that 6% of the population does 60% of the violent crime?

The Limousine Liberals of the Left, aka. the entertainment community, many top-flight, well-paid professional athletes, Wall Street and the technology industry just exposed themselves for they really are: indulgent, parochial and sanctimonious. Trump tapped into the voter base that HATED these people and that's why he's the current resident of the White House, not Hillary Clinton, the modern equivalent of Jezebel from 1 Kings of the Old Testament if there ever was one.

It’s more like 1% — old males and males under the age of 14 rarely commit violent crimes. And in the demographic I suspect you are speaking of, about 2/3 of that demographic group are being raised in healthy, normal households that teach their kids right from wrong as a matter of course. Those males are not involved in criminal activity.

I wasted enough time to read the whole thing and it’s exactly what you’d expect from CNN - dire predictions of impending doom for anyone who dares to speak up over the tyranny of pampered athletes. To hell with them all.
