Best Halloween encounter I had was in the costume section at a Walgreens. A young boy and his dad were looking at costumes and the kid picked up an Øbama mask. The dad asked, “does that scare you?” And in a softer voice said, “it scares the hell out of me!”

Years ago I saw a guy dressed up in full SS regalia, complete with the crop in his hand, standing on the front lawn of a fraternity. I thought WTF!? Then I remembered it was Halloween.

JFK and Jackie costumes are still seen at Halloween. Often with some fake blood and the pink suit.
Apparently a New York Times writer wore such a costume for Halloween one year and threatened to go as Anne Frankenstein the following year.

My daughter wanted to be Anne Frank this year, but we just couldn’t come up with a good dress from the era. She came up with the idea to do it. It’s because she likes her and is interested in her life. I was proud of her for coming up with the idea.
Remember what Halloween was like before the so-called adults took it over from the kids? Our parents never dressed up and acted childish and juvenile. They gave us a paper bag , slapped a plastic ghost or witch mask that was held on by a rubber band and sent us out to trick or treat. That was it. Remember Halloween used to be harmless cartoonish witches and goblins and ghost? A black cat silhouetted against against the moon? People today are just sick. It makes me sick. Today the cities publishes schedules for trick or treating sometimes it’s not even on Halloween.
