We just got word of yet another guilt-ridden, feel-bad flick from our enemies in Hollyweird, this time a so-called western dubbed Hostiles. And yes, this is a progressive (as in a politically correct) Western. John Wayne rolls into his grave like a ventilator.
The movie can be described as the latest attempt from the leftists in Hollywood to edulcorate and/or falsify Americas history. In case you didnt notice, movies about the Wild West all but vanished from the 3D silver screens due to Hollywoods obsession with perceived mysoginism, racism and what have you which is inherent in such a genre. Set to debut next month, on December 22th, Hostiles explores white Americas origins, but lets quote the filmmaker Scott Cooper himself:
"When I set out to make the film I knew there was a racial and cultural divide in America. I just didn't realize it was as wide as it is, and growing wider by the day.

“and growing wider by the day”
Because of A-holes like you, Scotty.
The racial divide is getting worse because the race hustlers won’t STFU!
Thanks davikkm.
“John Wayne rolls into his grave like a ventilator. “
What does that even mean?
I recommend a real Western, starring John Wayne and Gail Russell:
Angel and the Badman
“The Searchers”
There were quite a few movies in the 50’s - 70’s that took the Indian side. Some were quite good.
“Little Big Man” for one.
And from the earliest days of western novels and movies besides, the underbelly of the old west was evident. Both “The Virginian” and “The Ox-Bow” incident for instance.
So it's from a perspective that by definition won't appeal to about 95% of the audience for westerns.
Hollywood has *never* portrayed the “Olde West” with th eleast bit of accuracy.
My suggestion - don’t see the flick.
Take that money (ticket + soda + popcorn etc) and buy a subscription to True West Magazine. www.truewestmagazine.com.
As for the other - read Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee.
Hollywood didn’t stop making westerns due to anything having to do with mysoginism, it stopped making westerns because people stopped going to see westerns. And Hostiles isn’t a Hollywood movie, it’s indie, and one of the companies is French.
Torture was extremely common among the natives, as was rape.
The plains indians would often tie captives down to the dirt, spread eagle, then build a small fire under one hand. Later, the other. It would go on for DAYS.
They killed more of one another than we ever did.
The “infected blankets”..? That happened in Canada —ONCE.
Liberals, snowflakes, feminists, and other effete males hate Westerns because they were filled with archetypical MANLY men, the sort of men most of us admired and respected. Today liberals have rebranded them as "toxic masculinity."
Worst of all, most 21st century so-called "Westerns" feature manley women doing things that no woman ever did nor is even capable of doing and they now even feature Western towns completely populated by lesbians. Gag me.
Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane excepted, of course:
I had a relative who was skinned alive by these “dignified natives”. His son watched it happen, as did his friend Daniel Boone who ended standing in as Father afterward. It was the normal skinning, open the gates to the fort and everyone will be blessed by the Chief, but the evil whites were complicit in the death of the skinless man.
Rio Bravo (or its quasi-remake, El Dorado).
Tribal Americans (I reject the term Native American, since, by virtue of my birth, I am one) were an incohesive culture in decline, full of internecine warfare. They killed each other far more than they were killed by European descendants.
Even their more advanced tribes engaged in rampant child sacrifice.
They had some very admirable traits, and those I admire, while deploring - I am, after all, a Deplorable - the rest.
I never despised them, and even related to their way of life as a child. It was only later that I learned my father was part Tribal American. My brother, especially, seems to naturally gravitate toward the tribal approach to life.
Neither of us fits in well with the prevailing culture, although I am better at it. (He is a nomad living somewhere in the desert.)
It has made me wonder about inheritable attributes. In college, I “failed” a cultural questionnaire; the leftist teacher upbraided me for “psyching” the test to seem non-white. I answered each question honestly. I did not then know I was part “Indian”.
That is all just personal. If one is born here of American citizens, then one is a Native American - period!
Will it be better or worse than SOLDIER BLUE or LITTLE BIG MAN, both which fabricated history beyond belief.
I’m a Louis L’armour fan. Some of his interviews are very enlightening.
How about “Deadwood?”
