resident Donald Trump and his senior aides are preparing for a Wednesday announcement that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, according to a senior administration official.
The official said the specifics of the announcement are still in flux, adding that the White House is considering having Trump unveil the plan during a speech at the National Defense University in Washington.

Various American presidents have avoided the issue for, variously, not insulting Saudi Arabia, the “Palestinians,” for fear of “taking sides,” to force Israel to (fill-in-blank.) The list is endless, but mostly, America does not have the interests of Israel at heart. The American failure to recognize the capital of Israel has been a large factor in causing the “Palestinians” to hold out hope that they can force Israel to capitulate. It is time to force the “Palestinians” to lose, capitulate and make a deal both sides can live with. It hasn’t been the Israelis who didn’t want to make a deal. We need to stop enabling Palestinians who are doing nothing but producing terrorists. Imagine if Mexico fired rockets into Texas. We’d kick some serious posterior, not whine about those poor, downtrodden Mexicans.

Not to nitpick, but I don’t think President Trump has the power or right to declare what city is the capital of Israel—that’s up to Israel (and God). What the President is rumored to be getting ready to do, is declare that the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which in MHO we should have done long ago.
I go to youtube and watch the happy Jews dancing every now and again. Quite enjoyable.
