Cherry-picking bits and pieces of International law or even worse--making it up and refusing to acknowledge its falsity--is a recipe for continuing chaos and disorder
The 57 member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are living in a legal fantasyland of their own creation where non-existent principles of international law supposedly apply.
The final communique issued by the OIC following its Extraordinary Summit held in Turkey on 13 December 2017 makes their flight into legal unreality crystal-clear:

The “Palestinian Question” has simply become moot in the modern Middle East. The Palestinians are no longer front and center, replaced by a growing tension between Iran and the rest of the world. The big Palestinian backers are bowing to a new reality, one that does not profit by keeping the Palestinian sore fresh and painful. They are so last century now.
I believe that Trump will broker a solution that satisfies nobody but wins over everybody. We may actually finally have peace over there. I predict that there will be no Nobel Prize for Trump. As a matter of fact, there will be little mention of his accomplishments in the world’s presses. Ironic, huh?

The OIC recognizes no law code that is not based on Sharia Law, which, as it turns out, is almost completely incompatible with just about any other law code in the world, based as it is on the ultimate supremacy of the authority contained within the Koran, and no other sources whatsoever. There is no “Golden Rule” (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you) or any equivalent of the Ten Commandments, particularly the ones about coveting and/or killing for personal gain, found ANYWHERE in the Koran.
